Looking at installing a system for the dining room (approx 5x5m). Probably CD only is enough and expected use would be as background for parties, dinners etc. Will also include a wireless link from the main system in the lounge. Budget around 1000.

I've not listened to much recent equipment in this area but a few notable items under consideration are KEF Q300 speakers and the Marantz CD6003 player. I reckon a 20wpc amp would be enough.

Any other recommendations for components that would be worth a listen to?

Initial thought was to go with a minisytem like this. Listened to offerings from Marantz, NAD, Denon and Yamaha. TBH I felt than none of them was musically articulate. That was why I reverted to a separates approach.

Find an Arcam dealer and listen to the Solo Mini
thumbup Yes, it's a thoroughly convincing piece of kit. Especially with a pair of Epos M12 speakers.

I may have gone overbudget....
