" THRILLS IN THE HILLS "
( This is TVR,s 70th Birthday year, lets aim for 70 TVR,s on this run to celebrate ) we aimed for 70 and got exactly 100.....
The High Peak TVR car club are once again hosting the very popular "Thrills in the Hills" Peak District TVR run. In May 2016 we had 60 TVR,s on this run and we are hoping for at least 70 this time to celebrate TVR,s 70th Birthday year.
This run takes us through some of the best of the Peak District scenery and on some of the best driving roads. We have blasts across the moors, winding twisting country roads, scenic towns and villages, re-group points and turn points (great for videoing all the cars) and amazing Peak District scenery along the way. Part of our afternoon run takes us on the A515, the 1950s Proposed Road Race Circuit for the Peak District. Imagine Jaguar D-types, Ferrari Monzas, Aston Martin DBR1s and 300S Maseratis fighting it out over a fast, narrow road circuit looping over high hills. A circuit almost as long as the old Nürburgring, with every sort of corner and hazard from stone walls and off-camber curves to a narrow bridge under a railway. A circuit in England, on the Queen's Highway. Some of this is part of our "Thrills in the Hills" run.
If you arrive early at http://www.hassopstation.co.uk/ you have the choice of breakfast before leaving and we have a planned lunch stop at http://www.theknightstable.co.uk/ . The finish location is the stunning http://www.monsalhead.com/ with its fantastic views.
A great TVR day out not to be missed. START HASSOP STATION CAFE DE451NW meeting from anytime 9am onwards, START EXACTLY 10:30am.
We had people from all parts of the UK with us last year. Why not make a weekend of it and stay over for the Nomads Sunday meet at The Fox House, Hathersage Road, Longshaw, Sheffield, South Yorkshire, S11 7TY

Full details and maps to follow. You can also follow us on the "HIGH PEAK NOMADS TVR CAR CLUB" page on FACEBOOK. You will also find the event details there. We are also asking for a £2 per car entry fee this year just to cover some of the many costs involved. Many thanks.

Unfortunately Les may not be able to join us this year, as we can fully appreciate this will be a very busy year for him and the TVR team. But a very nice reply from Les.
Dear Kevin,
Thanks very much for the email and for your kind invite to the event in the Peak District.
Having driven around the Buxton area a few times, I can understand what a great driving experience it would be to be with a group of fellow TVR owners, roaring through beautiful countryside on some magnificent and iconic roads. Sadly though, it is likely I will have to pass on this occasion, as pressure mounts on the approach to launch of the new car!
Hopefully next year will be less frantic (although I have my doubts!!) and I’ll be able to get to more of the club events.
If I happen to find myself at a loose end on the 27th though (i.e. not poring over drawings, choosing paint colours, wondering how to stop the back wheels smoking, etc.), I’ll be sure to join you.
Hope it goes well for the 2017 season and you all get to celebrate the 70th anniversary in style.
Kind regards
Les

Looking forward to this. Loving the road-book!
Have booked a room at 'The Manners' in Bakewell (it's cancellable, so if you know it, please let me know if I should... )
Looks like a great place to stay Rik and on part of our route, we are going past the front door.Have booked a room at 'The Manners' in Bakewell (it's cancellable, so if you know it, please let me know if I should... )
Road book........A roadbook is a diagrammatic book typically used by rally co-drivers and overland travelers to navigate across uncertain terrain. Usually, the roadbook consists of several pages of tulip-diagrams, GPS co-ordinates and written instructions to assist in navigation.
In rally sport, the term pacenotes is more usual.

Loved them too - but would you be prepared to pay a £250 entry fee!
Hi Richard, hope no one reads that and thinks we are charging £250 "Thrills in the Hills" has been a free event in the past, but we are considering maybe a voluntary £2 donation per car just to cover some of the costs of putting on this great event.Edited by KEVTVR on Thursday 30th March 19:15

Amazing Kev!
Dom posted me a teaser on FB and I'm off to see him on tues, my rebuild going well so fingers crossed I can be with you with a bedding in max of 90mph (5th at 3k rpm I believe). Hopefully will has electric pas pump fitted so can get used to it for 2k miles before he'll is unleashed.
Really hope to be with you on the run.
Hope you can make it Alistair, its not the fastest run you will ever go on. But we have some great scenery, and some touristy areas where they love to see us all going through, especially Matlock Bath with its 100,s of bikers....Dom posted me a teaser on FB and I'm off to see him on tues, my rebuild going well so fingers crossed I can be with you with a bedding in max of 90mph (5th at 3k rpm I believe). This year we are asking for a very small entry fee of £2 per car. I am sure you will agree this is excellent value for a great TVR day out. You will get a free map and a "Thrills in the Hills" car sticker.
Lunch will be at the Knights table where they are preparing a superb quality buffet for us. The cost of the buffet is £8 and is ticket only. These tickets can be purchased on the day at the start venue or at the lunch venue.
So payment options are...
1. Just £2 per car, no lunch.
2. £2 per car + 1 lunch £10.
3. £2 per car + 2 lunch £18
We also have some great "Thrills in the Hills" T shirts for sale. Please contact RO Richard Walton ro@tvrcc-highpeak.co.uk for T shirt details
Thanks
