THRILL in the HILLS 2018
SUPPLEMENTARY INFORMATION

1. HASSOP STATION – There is a 5km run starting at 8.30 am and finishing when we set off (!), so the station will be very busy and car parking possibly difficult. There is an overflow car park being opened and martialled. Please follow the martials instructions.

2. THE KNIGHTS TABLE – If you attended last year you will know we pack the cars in like sardines! Again, please follow martials instructions.

3. ASHFORD-IN-THE-WATER – Well Dressing takes place this weekend and is likely to be very busy where we turn up to Monsal Head. There are no road closures, but please take great care entering the village.

4. MONSAL HEAD – We have our own designated parking area. When turning into the pay and display car park, travel up the hill to the top and bear left, through an open gate and immediately left again for parking. It will be signposted.

Incidentally - There is a mention of Merch to compliment the event, would someone be kind enough to let me know what kind of items, what price and will they be available for sale on the day? Think I would go for a Polo certainly.

See you all tomorrow!
Items will be to order only + postage. PM me your email and I will send a copy of the price list.

See you in the morning!

With just over a month to go until 25th May and everything going to plan (so far!) here is a reminder and taster for the event.

The High Peak Region of the TVR Car Club are once again hosting the very popular "Thrills in the Hills" Peak District TVR scenic run.
In May 2018 we had a record turnout of 116 TVRs of all types from all over the country: eg Devon, Hampshire, Essex, the North East etc. as well as mainland Europe - Belgium & Holland - a truly International event! This year we are going one better with a car being shipped over from USA!

The run takes us through some of the best of the Peak District scenery and on some of the best driving roads. We have blasts across the moors, winding twisting country roads, scenic towns and villages, re-group points and turn points (great for videoing all the cars) and amazing Peak District scenery along the way.

Part of our afternoon run takes us on the A515, the 1950s Proposed Parsley Hay road race circuit for the Peak District. Imagine Jaguar D-types, Ferrari Monzas, Aston Martin DBR1s and 300S Maseratis fighting it out over a fast, narrow road circuit looping over high hills. A circuit almost as long as the old Nürburgring, with every sort of corner and hazard from stone walls and off-camber curves to a narrow bridge under a railway. A circuit in England, on the Queen's Highway. What might have been... Some of this is part of our "Thrills in the Hills" run.

If you arrive early ( from 9:00am ) at the start meet point, http://www.hassopstation.co.uk/ can have breakfast before leaving and we have a planned lunch stop at http://www.theknightstable.co.uk/ . The finish location is the stunning http://www.monsalhead.com/ with its fantastic views. A great TVR day out not to be missed.

START HASSOP STATION CAFE DE451NW meeting from anytime 9am onwards, START EXACTLY 10:30am.

Full details and maps will be available on the day. You can also follow us on the forums and "HIGH PEAK NOMADS TVR CAR CLUB" page on FACEBOOK. You will also find the event details there. There is a small entry fee and choices of catering at lunch and final parking at Monsall Head.
We have also managed to reserve a limited number of spaces for camping at the popular Barn Farm Campsite, Birchover, nr.Matlock, DE45 2BL. Payment on arrival. They have excellent facilities, but will be very busy this weekend, so if you want to book a pitch, please contact the High Peak DRO, Glen Robinson, so we can keep track of numbers.

Many thanks, we hope you can join us for this epic event!

I would like to thank all of you that did the run yesterday. A record 131 cars at the Knights Table! Although we could say 132 cars took part as one member turned up at Hassop in his TVR, but could not take part on health grounds, I would also specifically like to thank Kev for his invaluable assistance in promoting the event and marshalling on the day. Thank you, but am looking forward to the day when "Red Leader" makes a return...… Also, have to give a big thanks to Glen for everything he puts into the event and his tremendous support.

One thing that many may not know is that we had a representative from Motorsport UK observing the event over the day from several locations on the route. I am pleased to report that I had a phone call from him on Saturday night congratulating us on a well organised event, driving standards, the courtesy and demeanour extended to him from members he had spoken to and thankfully that he would have no concerns in supporting future High Peak events. A pat on the back to all.

With that news, now for 2020 Thrills in the Hills Planning - watch this space!
