A poll for all the Chris Moyles show listners. What did you listen to?

I turned Scott Mills off straight away, just can't listen to him, I wouldn't say I don't like him, just can't listen to him.

So I went to Radio 2 and Chris Evans was playing Re Light My Fire... Really?

From there I went to 6 Music, not bad, but some very odd music, at one point it go so weird I went back to Radio 2 and he'd gone from playing re light my fire to interviewing an 8 year old.

I will listen to Scott this week and then thats it, The Radio 1 Breakfast Show is dead as far as I am concerned.

Dick Grimeshaw is shocking, going to be the death of Radio 1 I feel.

RIP Radio 1, it has been great but sadly the suits upstairs have killed it.
What's really strange is, apart from a few people on here with irrational hatred issues torwards him, everybody seems to think getting rid of him is a stupid idea. Apparent he appealed to a listner whcih was too old, yet my 12 year old cousion says she is going to miss him in the mornings as much as me at 37.

I really think the BBC have misjudged this...

I didn't even think about turning Grimshaw on, I heard him on the radio over the weekend in a vain attempt to plug them show, that and some of the promotional jingles were just cring worthy... TeamGrimshaw? Really...

Chirs Evans is on holiday this week, so Radio 2 has Zoe Ball on, which was quite good.

I have to say I haven't tried it, but listening to him plug it over the weekend, told me all I need to know.

That said, Radio 2 is not for me. Chris is ok, and this week Zoe has been very good, but the music bounces from ok to WTF...

I'll stick with R2 for this week, and maybe give R1 a go next week, I fully expect that to be a very short lived experiment.

What's Capital FM's breakfast show like?

Well, I tried Grimshaw this morning.

The good news is there was no sign of One Direction and there was some (half) decent music. The bad news is he has an incredibly annoying voice and seems intent on making sure nobody else gets a look in, for example he said hello to Tina as the news came on, and when she got to the end of the news she was saying something like 'thanks and goodbye' and he cut right across the top of her and cut her off!

I actually found something that made me smile this morning, Absolute Radio 80's on DAB, made me laugh in the car for the first time since Chris & the Gang left us.

Im bored of listening about one direction now (the jammy little s that they are) and i hate grimshaw with a passion after a couple of weeks of listening to his bullst.
He needs shooting.
I can safeley say if i saw him at the side of the road i would swerve and run the over!
I have a question. Who the hell are One Direction, I'm sure I'd never heard of them until Grimshaw appeared...

Huffington Post said:
Radio 1 Breakfast Show host Nick Grimshaw has dismissed Robbie Williams as 'not relevant' to younger listeners of his show on the day that the former Take That star enjoyed a 14th number one single, and a new album release.

Rather surprisingly for the host of Radio One's breakfast show, Grimshaw claimed he'd never listened to a Robbie Williams song before his latest hit 'Candy'...

"I've never listened to a Robbie Williams song but I really like him."

Speaking to 5 News, Grimmy said he didn't know if Robbie Williams was right for Radio 1's audience anymore:

"To 13 and 14 year olds he's not relevant ... they've got One Direction. I liked Take That when I was little but I'm not little anymore."

But Grimshaw did play Robbie's new song this morning and admitted, "I quite like the new song." (See Robbie in action below)

It comes after the star, who is 38, was judged too old for the Radio 1 playlist.

His hit 'Candy' became number 1 last night after sales of 137,000 last week alone. It was the fastest selling single by a male artist this year.
"To 13 & 14 year olds he's not relevant.. they've got One Direction".

I don't know where to start.
Wow. Just wow...

ETA: I did some research into official radio listening figures the other week, and they are released quarterly by an outfit called Rajar. The last quarter was published in September. Almost like the BBC timed Grimshaw's new show to ride on the back of Chris Moyles listening figures for 3 months beofre it gets released just how inept he really is.

The official Rajar radio listening figures are published quarterly or something, there was a set published in September just afetr he took over, but the key one be will January's release on the 31st January.

I expect them to be a car crash... But due to the unique way the BBC is funded, even if the figures drop from 6 million to 6, providing the 6 are in the 16-25 age group they are aiming for it will probably be reporting as a sucess.

I've given up on the Radio now.

Radio 1 - Well, say no more
Radio 2 - It's ok, but between the kids and the golden oldies, I'm just not quite ready for it yet.
6 Music - Lacks the group banter
Local Radio - Combination of an annoying presenter and adverts
DAB - Yet to find anything that floats my boat, Absolute is the close, but not quite there, plus I'm not sure if its just me but DAB seems to be well behind FM in terms sound quality, particularly on the move.

Next year? Do you mean this year? If not that would have to be one of the longest periods of gardening leave ever, is that even enforceable?

You may offer a defence, but in doing so, you please include your age?

Seriously, I am in my mid 30's and feel like I have been abandoned by the radio industry. Radio 1 have gone after the teen market, radio 2 and 4 I am just not quite there yet, there has never really been a point to radio 3 and 5. I have tried radio 6 and various DAB stations, but none seem to last beyond a couple of weeks.

With Chris and the gang you could commute to work, but it felt like you were still in the pub with a load of mates enjoying the banter.

Mostly CD's.

But I bought an Elise in June and only having a single disc CD means I have been listening to the radio on the way into work, and Radio 2 has grown on me a little. Zoe Ball has been on again this week and she is great in the morning.

That's exactly the problem, the commercial sector has the few 15-25 year old that listen to the radio, absolutely covered, there is no need for the BBC to do it.

Sadly nobody has the 25-40 sector covered...

What do the 25-40 sector want that the commercial sector don't provide?

If you want music that is unlikely to be played by mainstream radio stations there's radio 6.

Quite frankly I don't get why a commercial station doesn't pick-up Moyles and the BBC get someone inspired by John Peel to do their morning show.

The point of the BBC shouldn't be to be the most popular.
A mix of music and discussion, and the music from a decent period of time, as in a wide spread. The was some great stuff in the 80's and 90's, where as some of the stuff in the charts is just dross.

No idea what the head of R1 was thinking when they took on they mindless idiot Grimshaw ....
He was thinking "Would everyone over the age of 25 please f*** off somewhere else?" I think he even said that was his intention, regardless of the drop in listeners.
That would be ok, if the BBC provided somewhere for those over 25, but under 45, to f*** off to...
