I've just found out HBO are turning American Gods into a TV series. This could go either way, but the book is fantastic, one of the best I've read, so my fingers are firmly crossed. If they do as good a job with it as they've done with Game of Thrones then it will be a winner.

Whats it about?
I know I could google it, but .... sell the concept to me?
Well, the root of it is there is a war brewing between the old Gods ( Zeus, Loki and their ilk) and the new Gods born from the worship of money, the internet etc. The story centers around 1 man who has to find a path through it all whilst coming to terms with the death of his wife. Written by Neil Gaiman, so therefore awesome! ;-)

Now that sounds cool. And Gaimen is great.

Is Yahwah in it?
No. Not in the book anyway.

Good to see it's still moving! Let's hope they do it justice.

The book is not long, whereas on the TV show they are filling loads of additional back story and doing loads more character development, presumably to string it out for several seasons.

Chronologically it's also not quite in step with the book but it is pretty close.

However the story on the show is staying very close to the book indeed.

So anyway, the book is amazing, but no less weird than the TV show. I'd wait and read the book when series 1 finishes myself.
Finally caught up! Agree with this, they seem to be sticking quite close to the book , with a few deviations here and there (Mad Sweeny has been in this more already than he was seen in the book) but all to the good for the show. I was reading last night that this season will be 8 episodes, so there's absolutely now way it's being finished in 1 season. The pace it's going and with 8 episodes a season it'll be at least 4. Which is fine by me smile

It's diverging from the book quite a bit now.
