2 weeks to go before the UK premier of S5 (1 day after the US). Looking forward to it.

Here is a spoiler-free review of S5 E1 however(!) it does drops hints as to things like the quality of the episode etc, so if you want to stay completely spoiler-free, obviously don't read the review.

From this, I think it is safe to deduce...

Either they don't make it to DC or they make it to DC but there is no cure.

Looks like they had showers in Terminus.

The one major surprise for me about last night's episode is just how quickly Terminus lasted. After all the uproar from fans about how slow-paced the last series was and having been set in the prison location again(!), I could not believe how quickly the time at Terminus came and went. I was expecting half the series to be spent there based on previous. It is refreshing and looks like Nicotero et al are listening to the fans.

Great episode.

What was the symbol that the black guy from the very beginning saw on the tree?

Is it some kind of hiker sign meaning 'follow' or something? I wonder how far behind the group he is
He is Morgan from S1 and S3. The sign hasn't been revealed in the TV series yet; not sure about the comic book but it does look like some kind of trail to follow.

Having just watched the latest episode, I think I know how the casting team have gone about their selection process now:

"Get me the guy from The Wire"
"Which one?"
"All of them"

That's at least 3 of them have crossed over now smile

"Get me the guy from The Wire"
"Which one?"
"All of them"
LET'S HAVE A BARBEQUE.

Oh and my thoughts on the episode itself...

Nice to see absolutely ridiculous decisions making a comeback.
There's food in that hole which has 20 or so zombies in. What's the game plan?

"Lets all jump into the water together, and use shelves to protect ourselves"
"Shouldn't we just pick the zombies off from above first while we're safe.... they're sitting ducks"
"No lets all jump in there"
"Shouldn't at least one of us wait up here, out of the water?"
"Definitely not"

Hope none of them had any wounds or broken skin etc on their bodies. Or swallowed any of the water, or got it in their eyes etc... Hard to believe Bob got away unscathed after his little swim.

Nonsense. An otherwise good episode though hehe
And here are my thoughts:

Agreed with your point above - the action in that scene felt a bit contrived - doing it for the sake of getting a zombie action sequence in this episode.

I think Bob quite clearly got bitten/scratched in the water scene. If it is the case, it will be interesting as how this plays out as the cannibals are eating infected "meat". Everyone is already infected by default but is the infection is only activated through a bite or scratch or can you activate it by eating infected meat?

Carol looked like she was running away at the end. Going solo like Rambo.

Priest is definitely hiding something and the girl in the photo was the zombie girl that was after him in the under water scene. Perhaps he had "history" with her?

I think it is obvious how the next few episides are going to go - Rick's (sorry I mean Carol's) team vs the Cannibals, with the re-introduction of Morgan at some point, probably at the point where Rick is facing imminent death.

Have to say I loved the ending - quite a shocking, brutal scene, with Bob's leg clearly amputated and roasting on an open fire, whilst being told "damn, you taste mighty fine".

Did I miss a bit here? Last I saw of Carol was jumping in the car with Daryll to tear arse off after the car that took Beth...

The preview of next week's episode had one of the group saying "Someone's watching us and there's three of us missing now". Presumably those three are Bob, Daryll and Carol.

WRT Morgan coming back - agreed, I can see him joining the group by saving Rick just as he's about to get taken out by one of the group from Terminus.

Yeah, in the end she did. But at the start of the scene, she had taken the battery charger/jumper out of the car to start the engine. Daryl appeared and she was startled. He asked her "what you doing?" to which she shook her head and said "I don't know". She was preparing to drive off by herself before Daryl interrupted her and seeing the car that took Beth changed the plan altogether.

I read on another website speculation that what the cannibals did to Bob could have possibly inadvertently saved his life!

Bob possibly was bitten and/or scratched in the water scene, and that happened to be on his leg (yes a lot of assumptions being made here), it could be that the cannibals inadvertently chopped his infected leg this stopping from the infection spreading up through his body and to his brain. Bob could end up being the Herschel of Series 5!

That scene was so brutal, especially the way camera was panning in and out of focus, made it even more nauseating. Will be a while before I will be going to a BBQ that's for sure!

The Rickmeister is certainly becoming a killing machine. That scene where he butchered Gareth was pretty brutal.

I like this season's pacing - moving pretty switfly. Nicotero et al have listened and responded to the fans smile

Episode 4

Another good episode and slightly controversial IMO. Deals with another dark side to humanity with allusions to sexual assault and possibly rape.

ETA: I hope we see Noah again; I liked him and he would be good addition to the series as a whole.

I knew the lie would expose it self but was hoping they'd get to a big city.
I was hoping for some big city action too, rather than all this rambling along a road. I was disappointed it was a lie too - and was left contemplating where exactly is Walking Dead going? For me the one thing that is missing is that there is no planned end goal - just random food runs, kill a few zombies, meet some new enemies, fight them, repeat.

I thought it was a good episode. Slow burner for sure.

That being said, I still wonder where exactly is Walking Dead heading as a series. Since last weeks reveal that Eugene has no cure and the mission to DC was pointless, we are effectively back to square one of: food runs, rambling aimlessly on the road, kill a few zombies, meet bad people, kill bad people, repeat. The show in my opinion desperately needs an end game. I thought DC may have been it but now feel a bit cheated that that was a lie.

I thought that scene was pretty cool, especially where he just nearly had his fingers nibbled off.

We need to get back to this kind of storyline IMO. We just keep repeating the same storylines in a slightly different guise. Story needs to move towards an ending - or at least more towards the science IMO - or a mutation of the virus that starts to have catastrophic results. Needs something really different than just rinsing the same storyline again and again.

So now they've taken the hospital, where are they headed? More aimless wandering within an xx mile radius of where they started?
Spot on. The show desperately needs an end game to be revealed and then build up to that climax. Problem is, AMC has an unexpected hit on it's hands and now that Breaking Bad is done, this is the only other real show they are able to squeeze the advertising juice out of. So I expect more aimless wandering until at least the end of Season 6 or until viewing figures significantly drop.

Ahhhh, the 'Lost Paradox' rofl
The difference being however is that with Lost they stated at the end of season 3, that there would 6 seasons in total. In a way, that constrained that there had to be an end game. With this show, they just continue to walk aimlessly.
