The Stand (Stephen King)
Discussion
I'm currently reading The Stand (The uncut version) again (brilliant book - The cut version sucks) and I'm just re-watching the mini series (slow and full of odd bits missing from the book) - I love both, but I hear it's to be made in to a 2 part film - Does anyone have any concrete information on this as I think, if done well, it'll be awesome...

Thanks - I'd seen that, but there's not a lot of info thereI'd heard about Matthew Mcconaughey as Flagg too - Not sure if I approve - I always saw Mel Gibson as Flagg

Cool, I'm just reading this too. As a King fan it was the only classic I never read of his. Why is un-cut so much better?JTW

The Stand the best book in the world it has everything , I have read it 2-3 times and could read it again
I read it about twice a year - The uncut version does away with some bits that, admittedly, stretch out the book, like the Kid (which is no great loss) but it does add in a lot of interesting detail that helps visualise the book as a whole. Oh, I can see Minnie Driver as Nadine.
Watching The Stand, however, I actually said out loud "that isn't how Joe/Leo looks", "that's not when we meet Nadine" and "That's not how we should be meeting Lucy". Amongst other things. I did like the Monster Shouter when I realised who it was - Kareem Adbul Jabbar: Roger, Roger
