Well, that was just the same. Which shows that Fry did not make QI.

But it's past its sell buy date I feel.

Another one to add to the ever growing list of unfunny comedians that are labouring under the impression that they have any discernible talent what-so-ever.

The cynic in me suggests with a female host means they won't have to have a token woman now
I hoped that as well, but they had one this week on the panel.

And now that the BBC has said token female, it does not matter if they are funny or not, because now I just think "You are only on this show to fulfill the BBC's gender targets". Just how patronising are the BBC to women ?

It's not the BBC. They've been ordered to do it by the government.
I don't see any mention of the government telling the BBC that here. It says it was the BBC Trust that told them to do it.

And on articles I've just found on the Telegraph's and Guardian's website on the matter make no mention of it either.

Nor would you...I feel.
I'm not quite sure what point you are trying to make. But I'm not putting myself forward for the host of QI.

I'm sure you'll cry "typo!" but you haven't made yourself look clever enough to be criticising even a pseudo intellectual TV programme.
Oh, "buy" and not "by".

Thanks for pointing that out.

Having watched the current series, it's lost the plot I reckon.

It used to be 'Here's a clever/trick/sneaky question' and then the panel made an effort to answer it. Then repeat, so there were loads of questions, and teh panel kept to the subject in hand.

But now, Sandi Moosevig just asks a pretty lame general question, and the panel then each spend as much time as they can shouting and attempting to make witty comments that have little, if anything, to do with the original question.

It seems to have given up on the clever/trick/smart question part and become a place where comedians (often of dubious ability) can attempt to further their own careers.

But to be honest I prefer her as host.
I watched an old episode on Dave this week as I was away for work in a hotel. I don't know how old it was but Mr Fry looked quite young, and Mr Clarkson looked even younger !

But I actually found it very funny. The main thing was that they stuck to the topic in hand. They must know what the questions/topics are going to be so they can work out what they are going to say in advance. But now, since they don't take much (or any) notice of the question, I wonder if the panelist just dont bother to make an effort anymore ?

There are a number of shows mentioned that have stopped watching. HIGNFY being an example. The programme has gone firmly down the route of lazy humour based on operating in a particular bubble. Much as I dislike Farage, Trump, some of the clear idiots behind the Leave campaign, they are increasingly going for cheap easy laughs based on their studio audience bias. Hislop, in particular, has gone down in my estimation. Other examples of shows going down a similar route are available. So far QI, largely has avoided this.
That is very true.

All Paul Merton did in the last series was shout "Donald Trump is a fking idiot, I want to punch him in the mouth" over and over again. And Ian Hislop is pretty much the same (apart from the shouting bit).
