BBC Top Gear 2017 Thread
Discussion
Perhaps time to kick off a new thread after the all the controversy last year.
Hopefully we can keep this on track, without massive arguments over which show/hosts are the best...
Trailer for the new season was released a few days ago:

Not a lot of details to be gained but looks like a more subtle level of humour most of us enjoy, plus a little meta BBC humour too.

I guess it´ll never be perfect.
I´m looking forward to how well the three fellas get on - could be promising.
I'll give it a go this time 'round.I´m looking forward to how well the three fellas get on - could be promising.
I can't abide Evans, so I refused to watch the last series.
So, BBC, at least one potential viewer as a result of getting shot of him!

That trailer looked good, I think this might be a revival moment. Like some others have posted, I'm not sure about dragging in celeb drivers for the odd episode, I reckon they'd do better to concentrate on the 3 amigo theme for a series and see how they gel together. Unlike the CE series, I think this one will work.
Have we all watched the same trailer? The one where the three idiots are sat in front of an actuary? It looks like more scripted unfunny wk. They have changed the presenter line up but not progressed away from what made old Top Gear st. The stories were entertaining back when they appeared 10 years ago but in this day and age they just don't work. Lets hope I am proven wrong, I will be watching it regardless.
As for Chris Evans, I thought he did a great job but like a bunch of spoilt school kids he got bullied by the "fans". Anyone that stepped into JC's shoes for the first series was on a hiding to nothing, bit like the rebound girlfriend.

Didn't take long...perhaps history is where 2016 should stay?As for Chris Evans, I thought he did a great job but like a bunch of spoilt school kids he got bullied by the "fans". Anyone that stepped into JC's shoes for the first series was on a hiding to nothing, bit like the rebound girlfriend.
If you watched to the end it did show a few interesting clips that have potential for good episodes, presumably a modern "Italian Job" film.

It's rubbish! Bring back Angela Rippon! I want reviews of windscreen wipers.....am I doing this right?
Well the series hasn't started yet so we have nothing to compare it to.Although I'll write a quick letter to the BBC maybe Sabine can do the windscreen wiper reviews if that's acceptable?

I did watch it to the end, several times, each time it shows Matt in some sort of huge 4x4 caught by police. Wow. Cannot wait for that piece of original scripting.
Well then you won't have to watch it will you and we can look forwards to you not posting in this thread anymore anonymous said:

I said I will be watching it, massive Top Gear fan, but it appears that rather than try something new they have copied the old, tired, format. Are you one of those types on Facebook that blocks everyone that doesn't share your view? So far we have 1 trailer, 1 very poor trailer that instils no hope for the season, whereas before we had 3 idiots that could do some passably honest acting because they were just acting as themselves, we now have Matt in a poorly scripted roll looking out of place next to Chris who looks so far out of his comfort zone it is uncomfortable to view and some kid.
Top Gear is about motoring entertainment and news, it doesn't mean it has to have some stty unfunny scenario with a format that has been done to death. A radical departure might be to go back to high quality motoring news and reviews. It wouldn't have to be boring, both TG and TGT show that actual car reviews can be done very very well.
