This is shaping up for excellent television, based on real events.

I can't recall the original incident so don't know the outcome.

Stephen Graham, a fine actor is the lead police officer & the rest of the cast carried the first episode away flawlessly.

Was both shocking & moving. Hopefully the rest of the episodes are to the same standard.

That was a fitting end to a superb production, albeit difficult viewing at times.

Having now read up on the case, some interesting facts emerge.

The perps & their relatives appear to remain utter scum.

All but Mercer are now at large I believe, doesn't seem right to me. Yates sentence was originally 7 years, increased to 12 on appeal but he is walking free now while the Jones family still mourn their loss. Those responsible will always be scum, there have always been people who have no moral compass they must pass it on through their genes and it's frustrating to think that we have yet to find an effective way of dealing with them.
Quite.

Mercer stabbed the perp of another senseless crime in which the victim died.

One assumes that he was tried & convicted of this crime also but I couldn't find anything on it.

There are also reports that he wants to sue the programme makers because they portrayed him in a bad light.

Speechless.

I do hope they had a hard time inside, you know what I mean.

The other inmates would not be impressed with a killer of a little kid.
I don't usually subscribe to this view but in this case, I've made an exception.
