Have all the presenters been sacked?

Every time I switch on, there's only ever Tony Blackburn or Sara Cox re-hashing stuff from decades back. Even very late last night, during a particularly sleepless period, I fired the radio up, and she's there again.

And now, Blackburn's once more. Just as he was yesterday evening.

Could be worse, I suppose. At least It's not Steve Wright.

Sara Cox presents "Sounds of the 80s" every Friday from 10pm to midnight. Tony Blackburn has his "Golden Hour" from 7pm to 8pm on a Friday and "Sounds of the 60s" from 6am to 8am on a Saturday. Avoid these times and you should be OK.

Although, TBH, I enjoy both of them smile
She was on again at 02.00 this morning. And constantly plugging something with her new best mate Belinda Carlisle, which will probably be repeated daily for the next 5 years.

I used to listen to 6Music, but the presenters are a bit earnest, and that Mary Anne Hobbs with her breathy, half-asleep delivery grates as well.

Thank God for the iPod...

The only presenter I go out of my way to listen to is Huey Morgan. No incessant chat, just solid music of his choice; as it should be. Now tucked away at 04.00 or something.

I like Liza Tarbuck too, like has been said a bit bonkers but it goes together so well.

Unfortunately for me, my day starts at 05:15 as I make my way to work. Vanessa Feltz, she just talks too much drivel, drivel and more drivel.

Simon Mayo's show is good to round the day off though especially on a Friday.
I would happily consign Feltz to the pits of Hades. They seem to fill that particular spot with the most odious presenters they can find. Sarah Kennedy was her predecessor, I think? Unlistenable.

..then we have the untallented and inane Zoe Ball, who only seems to talk about herself,
...and bloody Woody, whoever/whatever that is. No wonder Norman Cook kicked her into touch.

He must have something on management. I can't think of any other reason he can get away with peddling the same st for 35-odd years without a break.

Well, clearly a lot of people like him and his show as it has the highest listening figures of any other afternoon radio show in the country (yes, I know his figures are national but a lot of otherwise regional radio stations can now be listened to via DAB or the net so its not much of an argument). Until they drop significantly he's likely to stay there unless he wants to go.

I actually prefer him to any other afternoon show that I can receive.
I quite like his show when he is not on it....
Yes, I agree. When he's replaced by anyone from Tarrant to Charles to Anyone-else it improves immeasurably.

Listening to Blackburn at the moment, dear mother of god. Oh how I miss Desmond. Don't even get me started on Alan Carr and Mel Sykes - how and why?!
I quite like Tony Blackburn. Proper old school DJ, very slick. Agree about Alan Carr though. Utter st.
TB is bloody awful. He hasn’t changed since the sixties, and he was crap then. Awful ‘humour’ and banal chat. Another one they should put out to grass.
He was put out to grass for years. God only knows why they brought him back. Certainly not public demand.

For me, Huey Morgan is the best R2 presenter. Shame he's hidden away in the early hours. No inane drivel, just good music and just enough verbals.

Just putting it out there, if you think that she is that bad, why are you listening? Other radio stations are available!!
He pays (by a tax) for it, he is entitled to his view ?
Why do people trot out this same fatuous comment time and time again? You could say the same for football, which I hate with a passion. I don't feel the need to pass negative comments on the countless football threads about it. I just don't watch it. Even if I am 'entitled' (sic) to my view by way of your 'tax'.

Silly analogy. Sports commentators can wind people up EXACTLY the same as DJs. There have been umpteen threads over the years on PH on the merits or not of certain commentators - just like the ones here on certain DJs.

PS - I like Elaine Paige. There- I've said it.
OK, silly analogy. Substitute 'Radio 1' for 'football'. My comments still stand.
