Gerry Anderson series
Amazingly good programme but in between all of the alien stuff there's err other stuff
Mad outfits, purple wigs.
And camel toes lots of them

I was 7 when the first episode aired and don’t think I missed a single one over the next 3 years.

My favourite vehicle was the Skydiver interceptor.

Great stuff and, as posted above, fabulous theme tune!

If you were of that era you may be interested to see a remake on Netflix coming in April.

I used to watch Lost in Space every Thursday and am really looking forward to this.

One of the chaps in my scale model club is an ardent Anderson fan and builds quite a few models on that theme -

That is awesome! As I posted earlier, the Skydiver interceptor was my favourite UFO vehicle.

Wow. I always wanted to be the Skydiver pilot.
With my nerdy hat on, I have to tell you that that is actually a Skydiver interceptor. Skydiver was the whole sub and for each Skydiver (1,2,3 etc.) the interceptor was know as Sky 1, 2, 3 etc.

I remember all that... I'm a tad less nerdy.
But I think I need to buy the box set now.
I’m going to get the box set too! It’s like Christmas with this and a new series of Lost in Space starting on Netflix in April.

Some of you have hijacked my informative and memory prodding thread with unnecessary pictures of women. I have been watching several episodes a day.
I can report that "Close Up" is a particularly good one

Was she modelling the sub crew costumes?

Or were net tops all the rage in 1969?
All the rage Eric, even in Scotland.

Interestingly I found a recommended sequence to watch the episodes in. It does make more sense.
Wanda Ventham is in the programme at the start then reappears later one when cast changes happened.
She essentially takes over the George Sewell role

Wanda & George always looked similar to me. Have they ever been seen in the same room together?
I was going to respond to your post by explaining that my threads are not to be diverted by ridiculous replies. Then I looked at the special photoshopped pictures you sent me by PM. I am never one to judge and its quite clear that you have considerable desires for Colonel Straker. The one you titled Strakers special interceptor you had put a lot of effort into

Both Wanda and George did appear in scenes together in the very early episodes

Glad you enjoyed the pics I worked hard on them.. Back on topic. I've seen those early episodes & I'm not too sure about the authenticity, in fact I think it's CGI. Too early for CGI? No I don't think so, think about it. It's 1970 and they have a moon base, a submarine that can fly & purple hair so CGI doesn't seem that incredible really does it.
You are joking ?

I watched the lot in real time as a pre-teen, there was one episode which was shown much later in the evening (we're talking pre-watershed days folks) where, I think, they de-masked an alien, or did an autopsy on one. I badgered my parents to watch it, dad (God rest his soul) said it was fine as he wanted to watch it as well biggrin

Ed Bishop was an old friend from my Captain Scarlet days of course, such a safe pair of hands and a great actor.

Edited by anonymous-user on Friday 2nd March 20:48
That's actually one of the earlier episodes. Skydiver shoots it down and the alien ejects into the water

If you were lucky enough (or not - it was dire) to have caught "Death is a Woman" on Talking Pictures last night you would have seen even more of Wanda wink

As for UFO, I watched the first episode the other night, it seemed terribly plodding and there was definitely a lot of ACT-ING going on, and lots of ham and cheese must have been served on the catering truck. Well done to the actor who played the Sky 1 pilot, he was even more wooden than any of the Tracy brothers.
The actor was Peter Gordeno who I seem to recall was a sort of Engelbert Humperdink copy type singer / artist
