Radio 2 drivetime - another show ruined
Discussion
I loved the show for the banter, the expert guest at around 5:15 and the homework. The best bits all gone.
The banter was just great before (it's just something blokes can do so well if they are proper mates) - bringing in a female co presenter has just killed it stone dead.
This whole 'you must have a woman' will ruin TV and radio.
Back to Jack FM Oxford for me.
Hey BBC - Ken Bruce does a great show...why don't you fk up that as well? You know you want to. Vanessa Feltz would be a great co host.

This show panders to the looney liberal left that is the BBC, which I do not recognise. It needs dismantling. Great shame a british insitution gone.
Whilst they have undoubtedly made a mess of this show have a listen to radio 6 it is EXACTLY what the BBC does best, intelligent broadcasting a huge diverse spectrum of music a mix of different DJs and steadily increasing its audience year on year from the (ridiculous) threat to close it down.A little less of the hyperbole please.
Simon Mayon actually sounds really unhappy and subdued. I guess he sees his Facebook page and the reams and reams of people saying how rubbish the new show is (but making it clear it's not his fault obviously).
Not sure how or when the listening figures come out - but I guess they'll have plummeted faster than when Grimshow took over from Moyles.

I listened again yesterday whilst driving back from a day at the beach - it was just so bland and boring. JW was interviewing some singer I think. I lasted a couple of minutes and re-tuned to (god help me) Heart - yep, it was that bad. 20 minutes of the utterly dire Heart FM with it's mental women callers and thank god I was back in Jack FM Oxford range.
I won't be listening to Radio 2 at all now, whereas often the radio was still tuned to Radio 2 from the day before and I would leave it on that station for Evan's breakfast show during the drive into work. I suspect the overall listening figures have dropped for all shows as a result.

Way to show loyalty to the BBC for all those millions, for taking him back, for giving him chance after chance all the time while being an over rated wker.
Shakes my damn head.
i think wker is a bit strong - he does a lot for charity, puts on decent family car shows and gives people the chance to drive his cars etc. I don't particularly like his breakfast show but it's the UK's number one so he must be doing something right.Shakes my damn head.

Jack FM is basically DaveRadio.
Jack FM Oxford is very good, especially the breakfast show. Two blokes Trev and Rich (yes, two blokes OMG!) who are obviously mates and a girl sidekick Annabelle who is also funny, doesn't take herself too seriously, and joins in the banter brilliantly. It's just a shame about the damn adverts which are proper annoying,The BBC on the other hand have seriously lost their way now - I doubt I'll ever return. If it wasn't for my Wife I'd 100% cancel the TV license. I just don't watch normal TV any more - it's all YouTube or Netflix.

I think we're in a minority though. Surely Craig Charles has got to be front runner for at least something in the afternoon? Silly laugh aside I think he's very good and feel that many others do too.
He'd have to identify as female before the BBC will give that any thought.Evans on Virgin is actually OK. I appreciate his enthusiasm may not appeal to all, but considering Virgin is 'just another' commercial station it's certainly a very professional production. It must have given their listening figures a huge boost.
I wouldn't even consider going back to Radio 2 - the damage is done. People must only listen because it's convenient (strong FM signal, easy to find etc) and probably better than the equivalent of stabbing two blunt screwdrivers in your ears by listening to Heart FM.

Craig Charles has been standing in for Steve Wright again this week-so much better-and some awesome music aswell
Wish he was doing it full time
He is really good...apart from the take over bit where a bored housewife tells us her incredibly uninteresting life story and the music of her memories. Jesus wept.Wish he was doing it full time
I listen to Greatest Hits radio on an Alexa. I've discovered that it was defaulting to London, so I was getting the London adverts (specifically that wrist slashingly annoying 'Ready, Vodaphone' woman...Grrrr)...so I switched to 'Alexa, play greatest hits radio Bucks, Beds, Herts' and bingo...sightly less annoying averts, slightly.
Greatest Hits is what Radio 2 should be, or was...they've absolutely nailed it and I really hope they do well and need less advertising. I want to listen to good music and good conversation...I don't want some massive ego annoying me. Simon Mayo is one of the very few DJs where I actually prefer the conversation.
