That was as good as expected, excited for the next. I’d genuinely watch 2/3 hours of the camera crew & how they filmed it all - fascinating. The footage of the chimps & how close they were to them was incredible. Sad that they’re numbers are under such threat. You’d hope the local governments will put in restrictions on mining & land development to protect them but I’d imagine bribes and greed will see them lost to that part of Africa in the not too distant future.
this is what i pay my licence fee for.
the cinematography almost looked too perfect at times and made it feel so real.
David was some tough motherfker - gashed wrist lag and gonads - would write many a bloke off. the expressions and the thought processing you could feel through the lens was stunning and the previews look just as good.
Attenbrough has been part of my life since childhood "it's black, it's heavy and its called Basalt!" i was hooked. a genuinely wonderful human.

I should have left well alone....
clicked on the link that updated on how the troop was doing now. Sadly, Luther and some other younger chimps jumped David again earlier this year. This time David didn't make it - he died from his injuries. The 2nd in line Chimp (who struck me as being a lot more cunning than the younger, testosterone filled Luther) moved into top spot. Luther assumed number 2 position, but interestingly, he was subsequently been ostracized by the rest of the troop so will never be able to challenge for the top spot.
Anyway, compelling, and heart wrenching, television.....

I haven't seen it yet, got it on the planner to watch. I knew Attenborough was a tough cookie but to go thru what you describe, at his age, wow, what a guy. Oh, and it's "Sir David" to you.
