He-Man and the Masters of the Universe
Discussion
Any love for this old cartoon? Any hope that it would be a good film, or a load of old tosh?

Don't think I had Greyskull or any buildings, but I was very lucky and had all the early figures. I can still remember where me and my mum would go and get one from the market. It was something I'd really look forward to every week. I think TRansformers or Zoids or something may have lured me away from He-Man, difficult to recall.

I had Thundercats figures, sad to say I never owned a He-Man!
I have genuine affection for Masters of the Universe (the film), our neighbour owned a video rental van (Hollywood Nights) and anything left the van on Sunday mornings was ours until mid-afternoon. I got through hundreds of films such as Krull, Masters of the Universe, Howard the Duck, Adventures in Babysitting, Frog Dreaming, The Goonies, Garbage Pail Kids and so on. Good times.
I am find of all those hokey 80s fantasy films, but I love Adventures in Babysitting. Me and my gran would watch it together a lot. When it was last on telly it was censored/cut rather badly, which ruined the experience for me. I read about it a few weeks ago and it was remade. I can't imagine it being bettered though.I have genuine affection for Masters of the Universe (the film), our neighbour owned a video rental van (Hollywood Nights) and anything left the van on Sunday mornings was ours until mid-afternoon. I have the original DH comics as well as the graphic novels with extras and agree that he was so cool. Simon Furman was/is a genius. I didn't realise that about World War Hulk. Apparently, Stan Lee sent a letter to Simon Furman stating how much he loved the character. Also Dragon's Claws would be a good film.
what extras?viggyp said:

I agree mate but I guess more stories can be told as the size of a human compared to TF size.
Yeah. I liked his stuff with DC and Iron-Man of 2020 (ha, that's almost here). But my fave stories with with the TFs. Especially when he tracked down Galvatron in the past, that was an epic story. Dunno if Furman was still in charge then, but they could tell ace stories.viggyp said:
Haha, 2020 close by eh? Who'd have though
Yeah, that was Furman's baby and he wrote all those post movie, time travel shenanigans. Currently reading IDWs UK collections and it brings back so many memories.
Is it IDW that has been releasing those fortnightly hardback editions in shops?Yeah, that was Furman's baby and he wrote all those post movie, time travel shenanigans. Currently reading IDWs UK collections and it brings back so many memories.

Oh excellent. I didn't even know he was on there!
And Geoff Senior.I chatted to a TF UK artist a few years ago at Wigan CC, and we talked abut Geoff, and the frnech one that made the metal look like a living tissue.

He was definitely my fave. The only one I can think of but I'm sure he wasn't French was Dan Reed who drew the "wobbly" TFs.
Right, had a quick look, yip, that's him. I must have misremembered. He must have lived in France, because the one I chatted to, said they could never meet in person and he faxed, or posted his stuff over.Gassing Station | TV, Film, Video Streaming & Radio | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
