It's nice to see that this thread hasn't been derailed by the usual bickering or needless criticisms.

I'm about two weeks behind on episodes but it's an enjoyable watch and definitely fits neatly into the kind of slow TV I enjoy.

I'm fancying a trip to the sale tomorrow now.

I was there on Saturday morning but couldn't stay for the vehicle sale. The attendance was huge for something that isn't exactly close to anywhere huge and is a niche hobby.

Good to see a business doing so well though.

I'm amazed so long after starting this thread the show has got so much positive feedback. It's also great that someone involved with the show is able to listen to and respond to the criticism and praise maybe this is how social media should work when shaping TV shows?

I've only caught one episode of the current series but they're all recorded for my upcoming week of rest.

Before we get carried away I’ve been catching up on episodes from my iPad.

One for Mumblesboy, can you ask whoever does the stuff on the app to set the advertising to play in natural breaks in the show, it’s edited for adverts so rather than just randomly spaced in the middle of talking use those breaks.

I can imagine a lot of work goes into editing the shows together. Just seems odd that whoever deals with the on demand stuff doesn’t appear to care where the advertisements are placed.

Unless it’s to stop people ripping episodes cleanly. Like when they would play a jingle mid way through the number one record on the top 40

It's a great programme, but I do fear the innate distortion of reality which television inevitably involves. IMHO, television is a fake up, and everyone involved in it are phonies. Look what has happened to the antiques business since Bargain Hunt, Flog It!, Antiques Road Trip and the rest took hold. If you have been in an auction house while that sort of tripe is being filmed you will have seen how the whole thing is staged. Great Western Auctions in Glasgow is just a stage set these days.

Bargain Hunt etc have been faked from the very start. I remember when David Dickinson was still presenting it and even back then the items chosen by the teams were actually selected by the researchers and the price negotiations took place off camera with them often offering to pay more than would be agreed on screen.

I enjoyed that episode.

The Continental is a lovely thing, if I ever find a chopper I’m selling it at auction and the way that the buyer was so excited about that AJS shows just how enthusiastic some people always will be about old machines.

Clio Williams engine (that also went into the first Megane). You could get the in blue and I think red and they had a wind deflector or a full windscreen but never a roof.

Cool thing in it’s day but not practical and probably would have fared far better if it came out after the much loved Clio 172 etc.

I’ve just properly caught up with my Dad today for the first time in a few days.

One thing that came up was this show and in particular the Police car which is one than he actually drove during his time in Durham constabulary.

It caused something in me to recall your post here. All my favourite Dad memories are somehow car related and that never dies out. I hope your own good memories can outweigh the loss you must feel.

The boss is an incompetent embarrassment to the car trade. As for his use of "volunteers", if by that he means part-time employees who have been drafted in to assist, that’s one thing, but resorting to unpaid labour in a profitable business is not on.

He’s honest. He doesn’t blag. Would you rather be patronised by some clueless twonk who can regurgitate the internet to inform you?

I’d rather trust someone who has built a successful business without resorting to slimy salesmen, needing to market everything with a million photos and the ridiculous overheads.

As for a young person expressing a view on a 1926 bus? Lighten up it’s only TV.

Going off topic slightly. But I’m not sure how well you know Angus, I know how well I know him though and while he knows his stuff I know him and his team don’t thoroughly research or upsell every item in a sale. Which is exactly the same as every auctioneer in the world.

The specialist auctioneers or special sales at other sale rooms are often thoroughly researched. But general sales are often done on existing knowledge and relying on smart punters/internet reach being enough.

If auctions always achieved the best price possible dealers would never buy from them. But it’s one of the main sources of stock for many businesses.

It was me who suggested a comment was creepy. As said if you’re unable to understand why that comment and similar come over as creepy then you need to learn a little bit more about how the world is for women.

Love the concept of a realistic restoration show. It’s great watching the likes of wheeler dealers and wondering what the labour cost would be, or how the hell would I do that on my driveway with tools bought from Lidl.

I thought it was me being crap somehow that meant the latest series hasn’t recorded and that I can’t download any of this or the last series into my sky box.
