A little surprised that there is no thread yet on “The Split”, a BBC lawyer/family drama with plenty of adulterous affairs and office back stabbings, Nicola Walker and Stephen star as husband and wife gearing up to go to war.

We've been watching it on iPlayer in small pieces from time to time, mainly for my wife's sake. Onto the second series now and I've had to say I can't remember watching anything where the main character was such an unpleasant person. Not that the rest of them are much better, apart from the husband who seems reasonable.
By main character I assume you mean Hannah Stern, née Defoe, played by Nicola Walker.
Ms. Walker has the unfortunate drawback that her face often looks severe, as though she’s just been given bad news, and is unsure of how to digest it.
I don’t see Hannah as unpleasant, but it’s your prerogative to see the character how you wish.
I think that Hannah has found herself in an untenable situation, the blame for which stems from her own actions in the past, and she’s coming to realise that, and is desperate to save her marriage and keep her family together, but as much as he obviously loves his children, and cared deeply for his wife in the past, her husband, Nathan, is strong willed, and I can imagine him blowing up and either walking quietly away, or even killing Hannah and/or her Dutch lover.

I see her like that mainly because of her appalling hypocrisy, while continuing to make her husband squirm with guilt she secretly goes and has sex with the guy she did the same thing with the night before her wedding.

You make a very valid point, I guess that it just goes to illustrate that different people will see a character in a film or TV show in different ways, I can’t argue about the way that you see Hannah, but maybe because I find her strangely attractive, (certainly not beautiful), I’m prepared to see her in a better light.
My wife says that I only see her as attractive, because she has a million dollar wardrobe of beautiful clothes, she says that if she, (my wife), had clothes like that, I’d be fighting men off her all night when we go out!
