Saw the second episode. Even more ridiculous.
However it stick by my view on the 2nd Mar that it is harmless fun to kill a couple of hours. The characters are nicely over-played and, like most stuff today, it is nicely filmed in hd using drones etc to give a lovely view of Bath.
That's about right. It's comedy drama - isn't it?However it stick by my view on the 2nd Mar that it is harmless fun to kill a couple of hours. The characters are nicely over-played and, like most stuff today, it is nicely filmed in hd using drones etc to give a lovely view of Bath.
The characters are comedy characters, that's the whole point. Mrs Women is the senior person and clueless. She only looks good because Mr Man solves it for her and she takes the credit. And Mr Man is a bumbling idiot, only he's not.
And the very senior police bloke, he dresses up like an Action Man !

So many 'serious' crime shows are lamentably full of plot holes and unlikely characters - Vera is a classic example - but this one is clearly a parody. Viewed with that in mind it's an amusing concept which pokes fun at stereotypes. Don't like it, don't watch it! The best cop show is probably the 1980s US series 'Hill Street Blues'.
Indeed yes. It's not meant to be Morse, is it ? It's light Sunday evening viewing (when such things existed).Vera, on the other hand, is drivel. I've watched a couple and no, as you say, you end up thinking "where on earth did that plot etc come from ?" Plus Brenda Blethyn#s stupid high pitched squeaky voice drives me mad (we watched the whole of Outside Edge on DVD not long ago and she talks normally in that). As as I result it will not be darkening the door of my TV again !

Without going back over all 5 pages I've no idea if already mentioned the fact it is mostly filmed in & around Bath, have watched a couple of shows so far and thinking..."that looks familiar!"

Far too much time wasted by lovely tracking shots of lovely Bath.
