In the opening shots of A Hard Day's Night when the boys are being chased by adoring fans
George is running full pelt when he falls hard on the pavement, I'm sure it wasn't in the script
but it was well worth keeping in.

Any other film/tv examples of unscripted events that added to a scene.

There's a scene in Primary Colours where Allison Janney is climbing stairs surrounded
by politicians or pressmen, she stumbles headlong, and they pick her up and the scene continues.

And you think because everything in movieland , even mundane things, have potential significance,
a locked room, a furtive look, a missed phone call, a creaky floorboard, the stumble must be
important to the plot, but no, the director rightly thinks, people trip on stairs all the bloody time, keep it in.

During the storm sequence in Ryan's Daughter veteran actor Leo McKern was only meant to in the water for a few
close-ups and a stand in would do his more risky stuff.

Nature thought differently and a huge rogue wave caught everyone unawares and while the cameras were
running Leo was washed out to sea , luckily they had thought to tie a rope round his waist just in case.
David Lean thought it was great footage and kept it in the final cut.
