A woman stabbed her husband to death because he wanted to watch football on TV but she wanted to tune in to Harry Hill, jurors heard today.

The heated Saturday evening row ended with Leonora Sinclair plunging a knife into husband Lloyd's thigh, the prosecution alleges.

Mr Sinclair, 73, bled to death as the 50-year-old dental nurse became hysterical after calling an ambulance, the court was told.

The Old Bailey heard she fainted and was taken to hospital in an ambulance with a policewoman.

PC Gillian Bills said Sinclair told her on the way: "We had an argument about what to watch on TV.

"He wanted to watch football and I wanted to watch Harry Hill.

"He got annoyed and smashed the glass on the floor in the hallway and left the house for approximately 20 minutes."

She claimed that when he came back he went upstairs and called her to get an ambulance.

Sinclair allegedly told the police officer: "I saw blood everywhere and I saw him bleeding."

PC Bills said Sinclair indicated the left leg.

Sinclair, of Enfield, North London, denies murdering her husband in January this year.

The prosecution says she was drunk and had been violent in the past to her husband of ten months.

Bobbie Cheema, prosecuting, said Sinclair had claimed Mr Sinclair fell on a broken wine glass, but a knife with traces of blood was found on the draining board in the kitchen.

Miss Cheema said: "This was an unprovoked attack by a woman who armed herself with a knife, went into the hallway of the house where her husband may have been preparing to leave her, and used it to deliver a fatal blow."
