Juncker is continuing his obsession with creating an EU army and I find it equally worrying as it is bizarre?

Why does a trading block need a 'super army' when NATO exists? Why would the USA allow the formation of another military superpower? If it gets too big who do they have to answer too? Are they seriously thinking of taking on Russia to fulfil their desire to annex Ukraine under the wonderful EU umbrella?

I must say after past history the thought of having a huge expanded army across Europe controlled by what is essentially a dictatorship is really rather alarming?!

Why is it needed?! The people of Europe do not want a fking EU army!

I believe that little weasel Clegg once described the notion of an EU army a 'dangerous fantasy'.

What's he got to say for himself now?

“French President Emmanuel Macron called Tuesday for a "real European army" as the continent marks a century since the divisions of World War I, to better defend itself against Russia and even the United States.”

The US? They aren't going to fking invade Europe! rolleyes I'm only 30% sure Russia will bother either!

With Macrons popularity in the fking toilet, I wonder just who this proclamation is designed to appeal to?
His approval rating currently sits at 29%...….an all time low for a French president.

It may sound somewhat dramatic, but I could see an EU Army moving into a member state who didn't fulfil their obligations and decided to do their own thing, all under the guise of stability etc...

Had Greece the courage of it's convictions when it all went tits up and they'd refused to accept the economic bail out conditions, reintroduced their own currency and written of the debts to the EU, I have no reservation that troops would have been sent in to secure institutions and arrest those deemed responsible.

Same if Italy did the same.

The menace of tyranny is rearing it's ugly head again, the EU is on the verge of becoming a full on dictatorship. Amazing how quiet the left is when this subject presents itself, especially the BBC.

Who is going to pay for this new EU army...? The majority can't even meet their 2% target now!

Are you seriously suggesting that the EU want an army so they can put down internal resistance to the EU project?

Because that’s real tinfoil hat territory.
A United states of Europe was tinfoil hat territory....

An EU army was tinfoil hat territory....
