I can't work out if there's irony here or not.
It should be obvious. Please name any other politician who did exactly what they promised to do in the last 200 years?
You cannot.
He is an extraordinary success.
I read the op in two diametrically opposed ways.
his commitment to rolling back the mess we know as the EU
He has make a real and positive difference to this country in many ways
and if he helps us get a free trade agreement with the biggest market in the world
that would surely be a crowning achevement He will go down in history as one of the
people who puts the Great in Great Britain.....

Which of these men is better fitted to be the intermediary laying the groundwork for May meeting Trump in January or whenever; is it the professional diplomat who has a working relationship with and a direct line to No. 10 and actually lives in Washington, or is it an egotist who could start a fight in an empty room, doesn't live in Washington, doesn't have a direct line or a working relationship with No. 10 and is the leader of a completely different political party to the PM? Suggesting he might do this is tabloid nonsense and Liam 'Werritty' Fox is a bigger eedjit than I gave him credit for if he thought it was a good idea.
Maybe its the man who's party didn't make chidish dismissive comments about Trump and has some understanding and common ground on policy ????Kermit power said:
So you're saying that all Farage ever promised was a referendum on EU membership?
If so, then he has indeed delivered. If, on the other hand, he ever promised to get us out of the EU, or that we'd be more successful outside the EU, then to date he has delivered absolutely nothing, and now it looks like the slimy weasel is going to perform that typical politician trick of claiming all the kudos up front, then bugger off out of the firing line when the hard work actually has to be done!
Granted, if leaving the EU is your thing (personally I couldn't care less one way or the other, as it's a trivial red herring compared to other problems facing the country) then without Farage there probably wouldn't have been a referendum, but if you really think that makes him worthy of your adulation, then you've got bloody low expectations, as so far, absolutely nothing tangible has been delivered!
So he got us disintagled from the mess we call the EU and now he is smothing the path for a trade deal with the worlds biggest economy .... Nah not much delivered then If so, then he has indeed delivered. Trade deals are conducted with EU as an entire entity. I get people don't like them but pretending they don't exist or have to be dealt with is silly.
For how long ??? I don't think its got long as a political construct , do you ??mind apart from the odd van I have no interest in
euro cars, so they play silly buggers and we can and should put a least a 10% import tariff on them

Yeah, that'll work wonders for our negotiations. The last thing you want to do is get into a tit for tat war of import tariffs with an organisation as big as the EU. We are not in a position of power here. They largely hold all the cards.mind apart from the odd van I have no interest in

I'm still astounded that people are sticking to the line of us being really important.
We really aren't.
Only 8% of EU exports come to the UK. That's half what they send to non EU countries. 75% of EU exports are between the remaining EU countries.
We are constantly being told we're free of the shackles to go and negotiate new deals - don't you think that the EU are also out there looking to increase that 17% of exports they send to the rest of the world, in compensation for reducing the 8% the UK buys? - and that's without considering increased inter-EU trade as they are encouraged to do business with each other and not the UK.
As for the £7bn - that is peanuts when spread across the tax paying population of the remaining EU nations.

Farage wants to help.
Cigars, selfies and drinks till 2am: Nigel Farage's meet-up with Team Trump revealed
“Mr Farage is unsure when he will next be back in Washington, but is keen to offer his links to the May government if it can help further Britain’s interests.
“I’ve got fantastic connections and friendships with this presidency. Surely I could be of some use somehow?” he says in a message to Number 10.
“I’m not asking for a job, I’m not asking for a position, I’m not asking for a title. I’m offering my help,” Mr Farage adds. But he is not expecting a call any time soon. ”

If you were an alien from Mars and you were to listen to Farage on LBC for a month and you heard the way he speaks of our government and of Trumps government, and were asked at the end of it which one he is on the side of, which do you think you'd choose?syndrome ...... despite the fact they (we) need all the help and allies possible...
