Intruders shoot dead homeowner in St Ives.
Discussion
Poor man and his family! Not sure if the stats back this up (or whether it's just the way things are reported in the news) but there seems to be increase in aggravated burglaries these days.
The 61-year-old, believed to be a businessman, was shot when at least two intruders broke into a detached house in the quiet village of St Ives near Ringwood, Dorset, on the outskirts of the New Forest at just before 3am on Sunday morning. He was rushed to hospital where he was later pronounced dead. One other person was in the property at the time and is said to be "deeply traumatised" and being supported by officers. Police have launched a murder inquiry and are treating the break in as aggravated burglary. It is not thought that the gunmen were known to the victim.

The Wail is reporting today that the victim was laying in bed when shot, while his partner, next or near to him, was completely unhurt...

It also says "Mr Hedger believed to have disturbed burglars and was then shot by raider". http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-4460422/Po...
Seems unlikely that he would disturb the burglars and then go to lie in his bed.
