Moped muggers and police bike chase laws

Apologies in advance as this article is by Katie Hopkins, for the Daily Mail.

Anyway, London residents - is this as much of an epidemic as is being made out?
Isn't it about time something was done about the police laws stopping them chasing bikes? What not have police bikes to chase these scum if cars are too unwieldy?
Surely if you get injured running from the police, it's YOUR fault for being a criminal in the first place?

Massive police presence at the South end of Waterloo Bridge this late afternoon/evening pulling over what looked like every passing moped and a large number of motorbikes too, a good number of which were parked in a row by the kerb when I went past, with no riders hanging about so presume they'd been confiscated then and there for tax/insurance/ownership offences or similar.
Cunning spot to do it as they were so far down the bridge they would be hard to spot until you were half way across, no side roads to dart down and probably a patrol or two back up at the Aldwych ready to intercept any that did a suspicious mid-bridge turnaround.
Don't know if it was specifically related to moped mugging crime, but it was a checkpoint type that I've not seen before in the capital.
This sounds like a very positive developmentCunning spot to do it as they were so far down the bridge they would be hard to spot until you were half way across, no side roads to dart down and probably a patrol or two back up at the Aldwych ready to intercept any that did a suspicious mid-bridge turnaround.

It's getting worse... The risk of chasing them is not worth them being killed, so we're constantly told by do-gooders... but by their inaction it would seem the police don't mind the risk of children being injured or killed by the riders

Not that I'm wishing it to happen, but perhaps the best thing might be if one of these moped gangs attack a senior MP or someone high up in the Police. Then we might see some changes.
There was a Labour MP attacked with a brick recently by a moped rider. Apart from giving an interview on how terrible it was and how it must be stopped, nothing has changed thus far. HerrSchnell said:
Steve McCabe is hardly known in his own constituency, Bojo getting bricked on the other hand would have quite the reaction.
You're right. All the lefty types would be out celebrating and hoping he dies of his injuries.
Someone like Saint Jez or another "soft on poor ickle criminals" Labourite on the other hand... would be interesting to see what they would say
Well, it looks like the police in Manchester have got their act together. Why can't they seem to do the same in London?
