Incident in Finland

Apparently multiple random stabbings in Turku. An assailant has reportedly been shot by Police.

It's very early, not much detail about who involved or if there was more than one. It could well just be a lone nutter.

Apparently the person was shot in the leg and arrested.

Seems like a tight lid being kept on this, no info around on the who or why. And press coverage is minimal too.

So it was either just a local nut or there is local interest in minimising the whole affair as far as possible.

Latest is that it was an 18 year old Moroccan man, and apparently being investigated as terrorism.

Those that died were Finns, also 1 Italian and 2 Swedes injured.

Picture of the guy in the ambulance suggests that if they didn't shoot him in the bks they were very close.

The attacker(s) is doing it in the name of religion, how can that then not have anything to do with religion?

I think we need a sarcasm tag.

(In more general terms it's a point about some of the arguments some people try to make to claim the attackers aren't motivated by their religion. Also because any time we have one of these threads and religion crops up it starts an argument and the thread gets locked. So let's please keep this factual and avoid the religious aspect for the moment.)

Yeah, I had a call from someone who was in the area to tell me they were OK before I knew what incident they were taking about. So it was close enough.
