There have been several incidents recently such as the one today where a gunman took hostages at a bowling alley where the police have been quick to say the actions were not terror related.

Surely a gunman taking hostages IS terror related in so much as he is clearly terrorising people.

Am I wrong ? Is the definition of terrorism that it has to be linked to a middle eastern organisation?

I would say the Las Vegas killer was a terrorist as well. Surely he terrorised thousands by shooting into a huge crowd of people yet that was said to be Not terror related!
