On Friday afternoon while listening to Radio 2 it was continually broadcast on the news about the story of the black man placed in the coffin by 2 white farmers and threatened with getting petrol poured on him. This was allegedly done to scare him off as they thought he was stealing. The white farmers were sentenced to 11 and 14 years in prison.
In the last month alone there have been 4 white farmers murdered in the Western Cape and I have not once heard anything about it on the national daytime news on Radio 2. Were the white farmers the wrong colour to be considered newsworthy when they are the victims? Is being placed pemenantly in a coffin not as newsworthy as being temporarily placed in one?
