Apparently it looks pretty normal junction except some discrete buses and bikes only 7am- 7pm signs
All in the name of road safety - close it and it'll be safe - they could try that everywhere

The buses and cycles only part allows cameras to be used for auto enforcement

Cash cow my ass. It's a tax on stupidity and blindness. I work in the area and those who were caught out should be forced to retake their tests since they are either too stupid to drive or found their licences in a council provided pack of Kelloggs.
As far as I know they havent made stupidity, a punishable offence - yet
If it was backed up by camera enforcement it could be quite a money earner silly

ETA who would be first in line, the people inventing the signage or the ones getting it wrong

Use this junction daily, due at my desk by 7am so regularly run a little late...more than 2 mins past 7 and I divert via broad gate, making me 3 more minutes late.

Got a warning for this myself, got caught going home (now go via Aldgate/minories if leaving before 7pm) on the first day of operation!

Thing is, cars, vans, lorry's maybe....buses are just about the worst driven things on the road (barring taxi's/minicabs) - why can't motorbikes use it? - we're just as vulnerable!
I said earlier if theyre going to do something like this they should ban buses too
but the way the law is set up they can only use automatic camera enforcement if there are buses
so not much revenue in it

Out of interest why do we have both red circles and red circles with a red line though?
What red circle road signs have a slash through? surely a slash through means that restriction is now cancelled

However if you apply it to no smoking signs they do have the slash

If all the London residents and workers took a vote based on their opinion, I have a very strong suspicion that you would be disappointed.

Buses are a fundamental part of the public transport system, that more people use that bi-cycles. Despite your own prejudices, you are in a minority position.
hehe
It's not a prejudice - I only meant ban them from that junction, if they want to stop traffic going through it 7am to 7pm like everything else motorised.

anyone that thinks allowing local politicians to decide which publicly funded roads the public can use in their cars needs to have a word with themselves, imo of course.
The public elects those politicians to make exactly these kinds of decisions.
The 'local' public
The trouble with roads is theyre for the greater good of the wider public in being able to travel and move goods from A to B
If roads were subject to being closed just because a local politician was elected because they said they would, we'd all be stuck at home
