There were quite a few UKIP members/voters calling into Maajid Nawaz on LBC and they were mortified.

How they deal with this will be interesting, along with where it leaves Henry Bolton.

p.s. nice to see the usual trainwreck of personal insults frown

It's clear the extreme Right and extreme Left both have a problem.

You've got some in UKIP not wanting a black royal.

And you've got some in Labour wanting to wipe Israel off the map and kill millions with a nuke.

Whether you are red, yellow or blue, there's clearly still 5-10% of the political class with some pretty unpleasant thoughts and actions.
I think the reality is you could take any view and it will apply to someone regardless of their political allegiances - some people simply have fked up views whatever colour their rosette.

What I can't work out is how people get those views - I'm lucky as I was brought up well but as someone else said on the thread I didn't even know Megan Markle was black until the media mentioned it and even then so what.

Sadly I agree, which is a bit of a stshow as the person who posted it as it was news (vs. the usual "sir he started it sir" ste).

For some being a former councillor of UKIP is of more importance than the fact that the former councillor murdered his wife, it's highly unlikely his former political allegiance/beliefs had anything to do with the motive behind the crime.
I agree completely, but for what it's worth everywhere I've seen it reported on the news it's been reported as "Former UKIP councillor.

And yet here in East Anglia (and in the same town as it happened), the headline has been all along that he is an ex marine, and the ukip angle just gets a passing mention.
Possibly, but I mean everything I've seen it mentioned on, BBC, LBC, Daily Mail, Guardian, Mirror, Sky.

I think it's just as likely to have been reported as "Former Labour councillor" or "Former Tory councillor" to be honest.

I'm not sure the media have singled out the UKIP angle any more than they would anyone who had a vaguely public political role.

I disagree............former councillor or Marine perhaps but what has the political party got to do with it?......btw how much was the house worth?
I'm not suggesting it has anything to do with it.

I'm simply saying that media reporting headlines that way doesn't seem unique when it's UKIP as a 30 second Google of "conservative councillor jailed" or "labour councillor jailed" would show.

edited my post above

I take your point but I do wonder if certain media cite the political leaning only if it suits their own political agenda's.
I'm sure it's possible and I'm sure it happens, but I honestly can't say I've heard/read any report on this where UKIP has been mentioned beyond the headline.

There's more of it on this thread than in the media basically.
