Seems perfectly reasonable to me.

As a genuine question.

What do their religious texts actually say about this ?

Both the chapters we like and those we don't.

The problem with "when in Rome" taken straight is that it would require every woman living in Somalia to have FGM. Cultural relativism can be a bad thing. I think that we should not be shy about asserting that some cultures (note I said cultures, not ethnicities) are objectively superior to others. The culture that has produced Western liberal democracy and which has (belatedly) recognised gender equality is superior to cultures that subordinate women. Cultures are, of course, both learnable and changeable.
What defines the culture though ? There will be countries whose culture are defined by their ethnicity or religion.

Bringing large numbers of those from the “inferior” cultures and making them mix with the superior western will cause all manner of problems.

Fgm in Somalia isn’t far off 100%

Fairly predictable del mar response. Shouldn't you be off on a Brown Shirt parade or toasting fifty years of St Enoch of Powell, or something?
Using your example of gender equality.

Lists of The top 10 worst countries to be a woman always have the same countries in them.

Not wanting immigration from these “inferior culture” countries is a bad thing ?

The thing is it's not necessarily a religious thing WRT shaking hands - it's just as likely to be cultural
I don't think it's a religious thing in Islam. I seemed to remember something about orthodox jewish people sitting encased in transparent plastic bags when travelling on airplanes to avoid touching women so I did a quick google and this came up....

UKIP's "Rampant Rabbi" caught in sex roleplay scandal
You quoting the Daily mail !!!

First one that comes up on google

Whether people follow that or not is up to them.

Personally I think it's waffle but, as can be seen, whatever "edict" that exists doesn't say it's a definite no-no.

Have you ever met a muslim female in real life?
In an emergency a Muslim man may shake a woman’s hand, although it may cause pain and distress .... if he can’t explain the emergency.

Yes I have !
We have been on holiday (as families) many times. She is also an immigrant !!!!!

To date she has never tried to kill me although there are times when I imagine she would like to.

Pure, unadulterated, tripe, and quite probably a figment of your imagination. Nobody who lacks such a basic understanding of Muslims knows any in real life, far less be friends with them.
Apologies I got the passage the wrong way round. The pain aspect was an excuse to allow the emergency shaking of hands, not a consequence of it.

Why would I make up such a story ?

I have been open and honest in all of my other responses / replies.
