Didn't we have one of these a while back?
Possibly...not that I can recall it. Events are developing fast atm and views can change.

Funny, judging by other threads on here I’m surprised the brexit party isn’t nearer 100%
Could be the Boris Factor picking up some previously disenchanted (as well as shy) Tories.

The Brexit and Conservative Parties would do well to collaborate and a) get Brexit over with while b) keeping Corbyn well out of No 10.

They won't collaborate, and Boris won't deliver Brexit.
How about Jeremy in Number 10, do you reckon the Boris Factor can prevent that or, much the same, make a significant contribution?

just can't believe this logic...how can this be seen as more important than health, education, pensions, defence...
Get Brexit over the line and lots of time to address all of the above.
Indeed it's a non-argument to wave a finger at other policy areas, a diversion pure and simple.

Have 'the above' not been around for decades? What stopped them being sorted out in 13 years of having New Labour saviours in office apart from the usual rank incompetence?

Is there an urgent, important and in particular a recent issue that's paralysing politics in 'the above' and if so what is it and why unlike the other areas of political activity has it been allowed to stagnate even more rapidly than usual.... ..

The other troubling aspect of UK politics atm as indicated by others is that the law of unintended consequences is ready and waiting as long as paralysis lasts.

I will just add that I genuinely think that whatever happens folk will on the whole get through it all.
And the ones that don't?

The madness is that we need not have to "get through it all". There is no upside to it...
Except that for the millions who disagree there is an upside (becaise short-term economics wasn't the only consideration for them, and too many economists/prophets don't know what day it is in any case) and these voters may have a profound impact on the next GE if it's called sooner rather than later.

I sincerely hope that the negative consequences are directed towards the demographics who wanted it. If tax receipts fall, pensions and regional spending should take the brunt.
S'cuse me...

I probably belong to that demographic that voted for "it." But I voted the other way. None of this is in my name.

Don't tar us all with the brush of "the dopes that voted for Brexit"
The doipes that didn't vote for Brexit are still dopes.

Not that being a dope is inextricably linked to voting either for or against Brexit.

YouGov poll result from data collected 13-14 August 2019

Voting Intention: Con 30%, Lab 21%, Lib Dem 20%, Brex 14%

Also and inevitably tangled up in the above:

48% to 35% Britons would rather have No Deal and no Corbyn

It's all going down over there -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------> HoC

It looks as though Labour will do everything possible to stop a GE and may be able to do so with the help of others so the thread is a bit moot at the mo.
