Zombie knife attack/“bagging”
Discussion
A colleague told me about this story the other day. Not sure where they heard about it but the only link I could find is from the DM...
https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www.dailymail.co.uk...
I haven’t been able to shake this story off my mind since I read it. Not so much for the specific attack reported on, but due to this paragraph:
“The location of the attack is known as 'bagging' among gangs, where a person's lower body is targeted so they have to wear a colostomy bag for the rest of their life - the ultimate humiliation.”
Still can’t believe what I’ve read. I mean, wtf?
Got me thinking, how do you even punish someone who does a “bagging”?
The fellow in this article got a rehab order, a curfew and some unpaid work. I’m just not sure that punishment fits what is an absolutely heinous crime?

I think the questions to be answered is how and why?
I am very fortunate but can’t imagine an environment in the people I know where the children would even think of carrying a knife! Regardless of being poor or not!
Who are these people? Who is to blame? Why can’t parents raise decent human beings?? Nothing to do with money but I guess some of these kids never got a chance!

Quite simply.... just torture them, relentlessly if needs be... https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www.dailymail.co.uk...

It will be fun if not on the receiving end....
The wife was telling me about this. She was working on a hospital ward dealing with post-surgery colon, GI etc and mentioned a few youngsters (late teens/early twenties) were needing colostomy bags. She obviously never assumed it was due to stabbing, however a few of the younger patients had a constant police guard and it was revealed by another nurse they were the victims of a gang stabbing.
Guess this is what is in the OP
Bearing in mind she was only there for 5 weeks, she counted 6 different patients suffering the same.

I’ve taught in London for a long time. They have the same chances as everyone really. For example I taught this kid Joshua Clements (zombie knife stabbings)
https://ukcctvservices.co.uk/2017/09/02/teenage-th...
There’s no reason other than his choices that he liked going and robbing people, stabbing people, selling crack. Note he turned up to the event with others to rob.
I taught 1 of these, who committed dozens of moped crimes:
https://www.standard.co.uk/news/crime/london-moped...
1 of these (murder):
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-17810...
And many many more. They all had every chance given to them at school, and some. But still did what they wanted, and have ruined other people’s lives. There’s no excuse.
It must be just about the most depressing parts of being a teacher watching a young child turn into a monster because of a stty home life and the lure of gangs destroying any respect or morals they ever had. Could you see any warning signs with the above kids?https://ukcctvservices.co.uk/2017/09/02/teenage-th...

I’m glad a lot of the responses are pretty much what I had in mind.
For me, after carrying out such a crime I don’t think there is any rehabilitation or punishment that really fits the bill for such an abhorrent crime. An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind, but I’d be happy to make an exception for baggers!
The match stick with razor blades is an interesting one, I know someone with such a scar on his arm (not well, but well enough for him to tell me about his scar and the football hooliganism that earned him said scar.) As horrific as his scar is, it pales in comparison to “bagging”.

Yeah, always has to have been someone else's fault.
Nurture vs nature is fairly well-supported by evidence. You saying some people don’t nurture as well as others?

I think in the above graph you would be better looking at socioeconomic groups. my guess is you would find poor white people and poor black people kill about the same amount same as rich white an black people. you might just find there are more poor minorities is all.
