The chancellor has offered £330Bn in loans but that was not really what I had in mind - that is more a last resort.
I'd rather find a way to support our local vulnerable pubs instead of them having to get a loan to survive and face interest etc. on their running costs for who knows how long.

There was a landlord on GMB this morning saying that if locals purchased just one pub meal per week, it could be enough to keep them going. He was also talking about selling vouchers which could be redeemed at a later date.
Pubs, chippys and takeaways around our way seem to be doing similar and have started to offer free delivery to local addresses.
I'm all for it and hope enough of us do our bit to support our community assets,
Yes, I had a feeling even this level of support would make a difference. Pubs, chippys and takeaways around our way seem to be doing similar and have started to offer free delivery to local addresses.

Our local appears to have shut on instruction of the pubco that owns it despite it doing takeaway. I hope the pubco goes bust frankly.
That's sad. Our locals are now doing takeaways even though shutting (reduced hours), we are supporting them and they are optimistic they will be OK; for one pub the brewery has cancelled the rent for them too.Amazing that some still don't get that it is selfish and irresponsible to just think "whatever don't care if I get it". You just don't know if you will pass it on to someone more vulnerable or yourself add to the ICU burden, until you find out - like toilets rolls - there isn't one for you (or worse you take one that someone who hasn't been selfish needs)

Had a great night in the village pub, though a bit sad. Six in the pub, three dogs, no one sloshed. Hand wash, spray and wipes everywhere. No one near anyone else. This bucolic scene I imagine is the reality of what has happened in most locals up and down the country tonight. Probably not London though, I'll warrant.

Why did you go to the pub?Have the reasons for this not been made obvious from the various explanations? What about it do you still not understand?

So you don't understand why we all need to be stopping transmission risk in e.g. pubs to cut the looming swamping of ICU capacity in the next two weeks?

I went to the pub. I observed current hygiene and distancing protocols whilst in the pub, which was nearly empty. Can't really clarify my post further, suggest you use an online dictionary if you're still struggling. Have the reasons for this not been made obvious from the various explanations? What about it do you still not understand?
Going to the pub is not essential. Buying food is unavoidable.
Let's hope your actions won't kill someone unnecessarily in the coming weeks, but unfortunately the experts & analysis are suggesting otherwise.

Nope, the clear guidance was to stay away from the pub.
You really are struggling aren't you. I never said the guidance wasn't to avoid the pub.DeepEnd said:

Have i said otherwise?DeepEnd said:

I get you're frustrated and a bit scared by the crisis and it makes you feel better trying to blame a stranger on an internet forum, but honestly get a grip. When you see those in the NHS saying "stay at home", just what goes through you mind?

what do the police have to do with enforcing voluntary social distancing?
We might need the military too to cuff these morons, drag them away, lock them in their homes and whilst they are there redistribute 80% of the unnecessary 6 months of food & loo roll stashed in their garages and vans, and give it to the isolated elderly, NHS workers and needy.Should be voluntary, but it is very clear a number are way too stupid/selfish to be trusted to act responsibly for the wider welfare of the many.
