G7 Summit in Cornwall

I don't think I've seen a topic on this yet and it kicks off Friday. I spent my teenage years growing up near St Ives, so the idea of all these world leaders holding a big summit there I find slightly amusing. I have a couple of friends down there saying the county is pretty busy with it all. I think the BBC reported 5,000 additional police officers being brought in with many staying on a cruise ship in Falmouth Harbour.

I'd like Biden and Boris to make a "proper job" on some progress for UK/US travel relaxation, but it seems likely now that won't happen any time soon.

I wonder if there will be a leader group photo with them eating a Cornish Pasty on the beach? ('ansome)

Yep, that's what a friend down there said. Shame if you're the one having your dinner cancelled though. ID required to get to their own homes I heard too. But big picture it's only a few days and hopefully with many folks staying in the UK for their summer holidays then the local tourist trade will bounce back.

I think Biden is meeting Boris tomorrow but I’m not sure if it’s in St Ives or not. Biden is apparently flying to Newquay airport onboard AirForce One. Then I’m betting a helicopter to St Ives and a short drive. So he’ll miss the A30 traffic . Apart from a possible clotted cream tea and maybe a Cornish Pasty I doubt he’ll get any feel for the place.
Oh and there’s a Trago Mills in Falmouth btw, but I hear they’ve sold out of travel adapters.
