Kidnapped Soldier

Watching this on the news yesterday. Soldier disappears in mysterious circumstances. Video shows only him, no 'posing' captors etc. Too many vaguaries from the US militay.
Did anyone else think that this came across as purely a bit of staged anti-Taliban publicity?
It's no 'who shot JFK?' or 'moon-landing' type conspiracy; all wars use 'managed news' to help the cause. Just wondering if this was an example thereof?

I don't see why the military would want much attention on this, if they made a big noise it is just helping 'enemy' propaganda. Not looking good for the poor chap.Watching this on the news yesterday. They could launch a daring (and successful) special forces mission to recapture him quite easily though

Assuming they knew were he is, afghanistan isn't exactly small.[/cynic]

This is a ludicrous thread.
Do you mean a thread about a kidnapped, captured, etc. soldier or that someone is trying to turn it into a conspiracy theory?V8mate, do you not think that if the video is a US fake that they couldn't have put a couple of guys in masks beside him chanting alahu akbar?
