VW voluntary termination

Bought a car on PCP with 9k annual mileage allowance over 42 months. Handed it back with 27346 miles on it a couple of months before the final payment. Anyway VW came back said they wanted £1700 as the car was wrecked! All panels needed repainting it was badly internally damaged both interior and mechanics. They finally sent a break down it says they want £1200 for mileage and 500 for damages! There is no breakdown other than that of what the damages were or what excess mileage there was.
So where do I stand? What can I do? They have already taken £400 from my bank

Thanks yeah I know it’s well under the mileage they should pay me!!
Just got the contract out for it now and theres nothing in it about mileage or anything! I’ve known people that have had vehicles VTed and haven’t been charged a penny! Even when it’s been repossessed they put my car up for sale with the mileage on a few over what I left so they’ve shot themselves in the foot if they want to say it’s more than what it was
