So what is it going to be?
What impact will it have?

BS & Disruptor Banks certainly know something.
Tandem Bank / Raisin is offering 5.35% fixed for 5 years with interest only paid on maturity!
stick in £65K and in 5 years you get back £85K.

I wonder if you can get demographic stats for these events?

Just watching Glastonbury over the weekend the trendy 'tt in a hat' dad that has dominated festivals, even having bespoke events built around then appeared absent from the front rows of the big shows? The crowd appeared to be very white Gen Z with very little Gen X in there compared to previous years. Maybe Gen X has tipped over to not being able to risk being that isolated from the lavatories or maybe even last year they were deciding to not spend so much money?
sorry have to disagree.
Along with the fact that most of the acts are either Boomers or Gen X I would say that the majority of the audience also fit that age category. Probably come down from their North London enclave for the week before jetting off for the summer to the likes of Mallorca and Ibiza.

Me and the wife have noticed staff employed by retail really can’t be bothered and now you mention it do walk around like Zombies! We went in a Santander the other day and I never seen such unkempt staff that look like they went to bed in their clothes and are still learning how to dress themselves!
It's hard to blame retail workers these days. The business units don't contain the business owner, just a manager whose true qualification is being more able to arrive in time. They all work for Mike Ashley et al and no one gives them any proper training and no one can dare tell them to do anything. It's remarkable that anyone gives a st but plenty do and they in turn are weighed down by the mañana folk.

We can blame all the quality EU imported labour but at the same time we must appreciate that all those companies opted to categorically not invest in training up indigenous workers but step over them to get to the easier, cheaper, better workers. Now those industries have no indigenous, trained work force to fall back on.
Will have to agree. Post Covid I have been fortunate to be really busy with multiple clients. For each client I only deal with middle to upper management and each one is suffering with the same disease of zero investment. Instead they talk for hours across multiple meeting invites about how they can get this "must have" thing done as soon as possible without fail but for minimum spend. I even had someone ask me if I could do something for FREE!

So dont blame the average worker that you see its not their fault that being a regular employee is no longer rewarding.

People that play the lottery by and large (I’ve sold advertising to Camelot) are of lower socioeconomic grade - less educated, less worldly, and social group of the same. Much like footballers really, people that wouldn’t typically come into money hence when they do - it doesn’t often go well.
but reading above we have the situation where intelligent (high earners) succumb to the same ending.
All I can deduce is that many many people do not know how to "live within their means"

Fuel costs going up, again, likely to force BoE to crank up interest rate rises:

Adding further fuel to the rate hike fire, so to speak.
Doesn't affect me I always put in £50.

TX.
Yes but my dad use to always stick in a tenner. So your £50 is inflationary!

have to agree with the last couple of posts.
people are still spending like they aren't affected by inflation. Essentials we can't avoid but all the other stuff can be cut out.
are they just delusional or are they really not impacted?
is this inflation thing only impacting the rich / super rich?
