Afternoon

We are looking to replace the only non sash window in our house and have just had a quote. The window is approx 1m wide and 2m high. The quote has come in at £1580 + VAT fitted (spiral springs).

Is this reasonable? It's just that it's over twice what I was expecting.....

We were also quote about £1200 for uPVC, but I think we prefer matching the other wood windows in the house.

I'm trying to get other quotes but wanted to check if I am fooling myself.

Cheers

All depends on style. Does it have glazing bars? How many panes of glass? Double or single glazed? Hardwood or softwood?

There are a lot of variables smile
Both top and bottom sections are split into three parts vertically. Single glazed (unless double isn't much more). Dunno about the wood.

To be honest I don't know much about windows. We'll be moving end of next year so not fussed about having all the bells and whistles just want all the windows to match.

Cheers for all the help.

The window installed at the moment isnt a sash, so we can't go with refurb sadly.

I'll have a look at Howarth. Might sound bad , but I don't mind getting softwood, as I'll not be here for more than 18 months or so.
