Hi,

My garage door is manual right now, its a very big double door has side rails already, had a quote and they mentioned its simple case of adding the motor and central rail and connect the chain via a bracket to the door. I am quite tempted to do this myself and wanted to know if it really is that straight forward. I already have power in the right place.

Also any recommendation on motor, the quote i got was £249 for supplying just the carteck motor and 2 remote fobs.

This is a single door, so just one motor. £249+VAT

Spoke to a hormann dealer today and they mentioned, having the springs tensioned properly and configuring the motor is not a joe bloggs task and off course they recommend pro installation. Looking at £500-600 installed, I'll be honest I am tempted to get it done by someone who knows but at the same time not too happy with the price.

Definitely worth chatting to this company. If you lived anywhere near Berkshire, I would say to have them do an install for you. However, I am sure they will help / advise with a DIY job. They are absolutely superb to deal with.

Very nice chap, so I am on the border of his 20 mile, he will do Seip for £435 fitted, local hormann dealer with do Hormann for £510 fitted (also fit an angle bead for me to cover the top open slot I have).

Decisions decisions.
