Im currently looking to replace our windows/front and rear doors and have been reading through some of the topics on here regarding what to look for (mainly Balmoral Greens excellent posts).

Ive received a couple of quotes from local independent companies with a decent range of prices and am trying to decide who to go with. Just looking for opinions on whether they seem reasonable or not really.

All three companies have good reputations locally (Swindon area) and have all been excellent so far on the non-pushy sales. Quotes are the first quote I haven't attempted to haggle anything off.

Windows (all split 50/50 with top openers downstairs (apart from bay large pane) and double openers (top/bottom) upstairs (apart from bathroom))
Doors (front composite, back upvc glazed top and bottom).

Window Size Company 1 Company 2
Lounge 1000x1600 £464 £350
Bay 600x1600 £448 £280
Bay 600x1600 £448 £280
Bay 800x1600 £343 £320
Bed 1 700x1600 £502 £340
Bed 1 900x1600 £515 £380
Bed 2 950x1600 £590 £380
Bed 3 950x1600 £590 £380
Bath 530x1000 £359 £190
Front Door 900x2200 £1390 £1200
Back Door 840x2000 £720 £550
Total £6369 inc VAT £5580 inc VAT

Company 1 is in a Duraflex profile (70 mm) and front door is composite but not solid (mdf filled apparently not foam).
Company 2 is in a Rehau profile (70 mm) and front door is a solid composite door (Endurance range).
Company 3 is in Deceuninck profile (70 mm) but said they could not find a solid composite door to fit(!) so quoted without at £3600 inc VAT, so Id assume not far off £5000 once a solid composite door is added based on the other quotes.
All quotes including VAT.

Anyone got any thoughts?

Edit: Christ putting in a table's a ball ache!

Yup sorry Company 1 numbers now sorted (must have messed them up trying to format into a table). Company 2 individual unit numbers are exc VAT, total is inc VAT.

Company 3 I didn't get a breakdown quote for just a total of everything excluding the front door for £3600 inc VAT.

For the price of the front door I'd get a solidor every time.
Having had a look at the specs on both the endruance and solidor seem very similar to me (i.e. 48mm solid core, anti-dril anit-bump locks, £1000 guarantee etc). Is there an actual benefit to going solidor (it looks as though there may be some difference in the locking mechanisms potentially)?

Ill see how much going for a solidor is for comparison.

That was the route I tried to go before with windows supplied from SIG windows (window fitters mate) in Swindon but although we had several quotes we were happy with (think the cheapest was just over 3£k fitted) I couldn't for the life of me find someone to actually take my money and fit them! Hence the swap to going for the local independent companies instead.

Unless anyone knows of a decent fitter in the swindon area?

Cost with company 2 for a solidor instead of endurance is ~£30 difference. Says that solidor are made from laminated wood so are lighter than the endurance, they both look as though they are laminated to me but with more lamination's in the endurance (17 according to the website, solidor looks like 3 larger laminations through thickness from the photos). Confused!

How dear out of interest (accepting we are in different areas)?
