What is this area like to live in?

I presume Kentish Town gets worse towards the prison?

Mornington Crescent seems nice - just enough out of the way to be nice but close enough to Camden if that's your thing?

Trendy yet expensive, but then anywhere in a decent location is.

Which area do you work?
Nowhere near there! I won't be living there on a long term basis.

Wondered which was the better area really.

I know Mornington Crescent is having HS2 built pretty much next door but I'm not convinced that's a huge issue, personally.

Mornington Crescent...
Oh dear. You do realise what you've started, don't you?

But whilst you're thinking about that, I am going to steal the advantage and opportunity, which despite being a little cheeky, was ratified by the people's independent sitting committee meeting (extraordinary) of 1885 - of invoking free movement of three units within the gaming area, without let or hindrance - which, before the gentleman protests - has never been officially challenged successfully by any player in recent history...
Ahhh - we have a joker...

wink

It was only a matter of time!!!

The prison's not in Kentish Town. It's more like Holloway.
Sure - what I was trying to ask was whether the nearer the prison you go the worse the area, or conversely the closer to the middle of Kentish Town, the better.

Ahhh, I miss the area, I moved out at the start of the year. I lived in central Camden Town for a few years then Dartmouth Park.

Of course, it depends on what your needs are. If you like things quieter and windy walks, then definitely look towards the NW end of Kentish Town so you're closer to Hampstead Heath. Kentish Town itself is getting dragged up market quickly, despite it not being the prettiest of high streets.

As far as Camden Town & Mornington goes, I prefer to the West of Camden High St. There's some nice houses and you're closer to Regent's Park and Primrose Hill. Living in Central Camden is only a novelty if you like busy streets, noise, bars and police sirens, I loved it.

If your life revolves around popping in and out of central town then go for Mornington Crescent. You're only a 30 min walk to Oxford Street from there, we used to regularly walk back from events and shopping trips, and places like Marylebone.

The prison is nowhere near, plus it's just a big brick building and has no discernible effect on the area around it. That part of Holloway isn't as nice, but it's nothing to do with the prison IMO. Also, Camden Town, Kentish Town and Mornington Crescent all have big estates in them, you're never more than a few minutes walk from one, so don't let that put you off anything.
I must say, I'm leaning more towards Mornington Crescent than Kentish Town and Camden - probably better to be slightly out of Camden! My only concern is that HS2 is going on right by Mornington Crescent.
