What a lovely game to play; let's keep the Londoners with their £1m garage plots out of this.

Not far from me:

Wow, you win!
Oxford has a huge disparity between earnings and house prices!

Very depressing. £500k to live in a bland small 4 bed near Coventry.

So what stops you moving? Huge swathes of the world far nicer than Coventry where your money would go far further.
A question I ask myself, unfortunately close proximity to an elderly relative is required. Don't say take them with you or annex, not quite as simple as that.

Considering we are in the middle of Scotland it's fairly pricey here at the minute as not much comes up for sale so things get snapped up.
Some change to spend on shoes though!

So it seems the average PHer lives either in London, or well into the sticks. Not many in provincial towns it seems.

Another character house, sadly owned by someone with an account at B&Q...
Plenty of people like that look, I just see another lovely house ruined with tat.

Nice pub round the corner too, and nature reserve a mile down the road.
That does look lovely, a good looking home that shouldn't cost a fortune to run.

This is from my home town-
http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/prope...

Really nice town with a beach, large park in the centre of town and the largest natural lake in Yorkshire.
Lovely walks, surfing, sailing, rowing, fresh water and beach fishing all in the town.
Low unemployment and crime.
Lovely market town of Beverly only 20 minutes away, with its Minster and the Westwood.
Plenty of shopping in Hull 30 minutes away.
Michelin star restaurant 25 minutes away.

And some good roads with few speed cameras.

Why would you want to live in the South?t
Couldn't argue with that at all.

Difficult in what way? 16mins commute to Liverpool Street (assuming at least one of the parents work in the City).
Garden, parking space(s), enough room for 2 kids. Okay it's not multi-directorship material but unless expectations have moved on since I grew up you .. it's not exactly hardship is it.
What I meant was expensive, ok for city types but what about your average joe doing an ordinary job?
A teacher married to a nurse with 2 children for instance.

Don't get me wrong, it's a superb looking property. But it's in the middle of bloody nowhere!

We could probably all sell our houses and afford to buy that. But we don't want to live there. Hence the price....
Not my cup of tea.

Amazing though, even if the lands inexpensive you still need to pay for the build.

A field.

3 bed bungalow.

The bungalow doesn't have much kerb appeal but looks kind of okay. Until you realise the A46 is 150m from the back garden across open fields.
