Hi

Can someone help me understand what this drainage connection is made of?

https://1drv.ms/i/s!AutS6uK5ubo1h4xQMU2_bgNIzRat5Q

Firstly there is the strap on boss which may or may not be solvent welded on

Then there is the boss insert which looks like the solvent weld type

What is the next thing before the first 90 degree bend?

I need to dismantle this and re-do and I am guessing I am stuffed if the boss and the first connection is glued on.

Is it possible to have the 90 degree immediately after the boss? essentially there would be a straight bit of pipe but you wouldn't see it as it would just join them directly.

I am thinking the unknown thing is one of these:

so in theory if it is an old push fit it will come out?

i don't get why he would bother to use an old push fit when we had loads of solvent weld pipe lying around - doesn't seem to be a point to having it there as a 40mm pipe should just go straight into the boss...?

I had a feel of the first 90 degree and it does rotate which suggests its not glued - but the rubber bit doesn't rotate which suggests glue - but i thought a push fit wouldnt be glued

Hi

The fitting is one of these

Which is good as it means the rest of the pipes will demount from the boss.

The burning question is do I want to take the boss off - will is really come off easily with a screwdriver/chisel?

Once it is off how to you prep the pipe again for another boss? Just sand it a little? Obviously concerned about the integrity of it.
