My Sainsburys Energy tariff expires at the end of next month.

Currently my standing charge is around 26p a day, 9p kWh day rate and 7p kWh night rate for electricity.

Gas is 26p day and 3.9pkWh.

Their new tariffs all look the same to me;

26p a day and 17p day and 7p a night for electricity and about 4.5p for gas.

Anyone have any recommendations? I did a quick run through on uswitch and the best quotes were from companies I'd never heard (Flow, Bulb, etc)

Well I've just signed up to Flow.

It's the best deal I can find although it's more expensive than my existing tariff;

Existing Electric: Standing Charge: 24.7p, Day Rate: 9.12p, Night Rate: 3.9p
Flow: Standing Charge: 22.5p, Day Rate: 13.5p, Night Rate: 7.5p

Existing Gas: Standing Charge: 26.1p, Unit Rate: 2.40p
Flow: Standing Charge: 14.3p, Unit Rate: 2.89p

Gas isn't that bad but I work from home so we use most energy in the day so that new rate is going to be a kick in the teeth frown

Ill be looking at Flow as my current Sainsbury deal ends in 13 days.
It takes 21 days to switch so I'd get a shift on unless you want to be stuck on their standard tariff for 3 weeks

I was (until yesterday) on Sainsbury's fixed deal, something like "June 2017 Fix". I was paying £88 pcm for gas & electricity.

They sent me a note that the fixed deal was expiring and that my revised monthly payment would be £179 eek In other words, double. Well, they can F.R.O with that. Nothing about "if you revert to our standard tariff, it will cost x but we can offer you a new deal on Tariff B".

Jumped straight on uSwitch, it seems that the Sainsburys fixed deal (for which, incidentally, my direct debit was going straight to British Gas!) was pretty good. Cheapest I could get was an extra £30 pcm so I've gone with that.
This was the same deal I was on with Sainsburys Energy, it was very good imo.

I also had the same notification that my bill would be increasing to around the same.

Today is the first day with Flow (the cheapest I could find) and I set up my energy monitor this morning to reflect the new tariffs. It's already at 80p used today, it's normally around 4pm before I'd have used that much mad

On my previous Sainsburys Tariff I averaged between £1.10-£1.28 a day in Summer and around £1.50 in Winter!

Sigh

Trying to submit a meter reading to Flow and it's just telling me repeatedly "there's a problem with your read"

closed my Sainsbury account the other month - still taken payments called them and each time its 20 minutes to get to a agent - email sent instead sod it
Fairly sure the tts still owe me money. When I pulled them on it prior to leaving they said they'd send a final bill and reimburse what was owed. I've received neither.

Still can't submit meter readings online with Flow and despite emailing them readings in August and Flow saying they've updated the new readings the online account is still only showing readings from June. Useless.

So knowing nothing about Economy 7 metres prior to us moving in two years ago I've spent the last 2+ years submitting the same night reading every month as that's all it's ever read and neither British Gas nor Sainsburys Energy (just BG in an orange frock) have ever mentioned anything about the same night readings any time I ever spoke to them.

It's only when complaining to Flow about not being able to submit readings and them saying "You keep trying to submit the same night reading" has it become apparent I may have a problem with my meter!

What do you mean?

It's an Economy 7 meter, it has a day reading and a night reading. The night reading has never changed in 2+ years, it's always been the same figure (72112).

I rang my previous supplier about this and told them, then asked if I'd been overpaying. Of course, they seem to think I'd been underpaying, the notion that it's not switching to the night rate and continues to clock up the day rate 24/7 is somehow out of the question.

So a year later and it's pretty much time to start shopping around. Flow have kindly offered to put me on a new tariff which appears, on the face of it, slightly cheaper than the previous one but my account is in a bit of a limbo state still.

Since signing up a year ago we had precisely one statement in the first quarter which promptly disappeared some months later and we've never had one since. The reason being when they came and switched out the faulty meter. I've emailed them numerous times about the lack of statements and they said they were waiting for the old meter to be inspected so they could get accurate readings. The meter was swapped out in Oct last year. I've long given up trying to get this resolved. On a number of occasions they've replied saying they can't find the account.

Each month I submit a meter reading and we get regular visits by someone to read our meter yet the reading on the online account never changes, it only ever shows the first reading from when we joined.

The best part is how each month my account balance jumps up and down all over the place, but never in the red, always in the black. I've watched as it dropped down to around £200 in credit, then back up to £500 in credit, then it was about £325 in credit last month and is now currently £825 in credit.

The real question is, do I bother to move or do I just stay here in between the cracks?

Oh, and just an update on the previous post but Sainsburys Energy actually refunded my the difference we'd overpaid because the day rating was clocking up 24/7.
