Hi.

I am currently installing a CCTV system on our house. I need to drop 2 cables from the loft/soffits down to front and rear walls.

The camera brackets accept a cable from below as shown in the pic.

Is it best just to run the conduit along side the camera mount and just loop the cable back up into the box? Or is there a "proper" way of doing such a thing?

Thanks

Use exterior spec Cat5 cable.

Not the easiet to terminate but much thicker insulation and gel to stop water Ingres.
So exterior grade cat5 and no conduit?

I agree with chasingracecar.

Use external grade cat5e or cat6 but I would try to hide it. Putting it into conduit just advertise it is there even more.

We tend to run the cable down the back of gutting down pipes and have the camera at the corners of the house.

Does that make sense?
Yes is does and thats not a bad idea actually. And would probably mean a better angle/view if its to one side of our front wall as opposed to the middle as I was planning. Any ideas where I could get some external grade stuff tomorrow?

Thank guys.

Probably cheaper but you would have to wait until Tuesday as they don’t ship weekends...

Cant you drop it down the cavity. String with a weight on the end, spanner etc. drill a hole where the camera is going, hook the string with a coat hanger, tie on cable and pull back into loft.
Not possible as there is no cavity.

Correct, it is indeed. The only knock out on this one is at the bottom.

Ext. grade Cat5 picked up this morning. Got all the RJ45 tools the other day before I started installing the NVR and camera on the shed.

All done. That worked out perfectly Vex and much better than conduit.

PH comes up trumps again.
