Quick Q: garage PVC flooring - underlay yes or no?

Just taken delivery of some nice dark grey PVC floor tiles for my small double garage.
I expected them to be a little softer than they are and a quick test of walking on one tile straight on the concrete floor makes more of a “tally” noise than I expected.
Some posts from way back seem to suggest using that v thin laminate underlay helps to dampen the sound. Anyone done this? Make much difference? Have any negative effects?
(I could have ordered samples but I figured they’re all much of a muchness.... Oh and I’ll speak to the manufacturer as well.)
