Our Ideal Standard Idyll monobloc mixer tap started dripping so I isolated the water supply & Googled it.

Found original instructions online, all looked suspiciously easy. Handle came off, then a small piece of plastic (just about visible in pic) popped out (God knows how it pops back in again, I've tried with no success).

Then it says remove the shroud which from the illustration is the metal cover seen in the photo - it gives no indication of HOW to remove it though!
Have tried gently prising it out with a screwdriver but don't want to break anything.

Any ideas greatly appreciated as searching You Tube / Google has got me nowhere.

Not using my fingers it doesn't seem to.

I thought the same as you I think - those flats must be there for a reason.

It's not the same tap, I actually found that this morning but watching it again has made me realsie that the shroud on mine is the outer bit, same as in that vid.

Now how to get it off without one of those fancy tools he's using...

I like your thinking, sadly I don't though a mate of mine might.

Will ask a couple of neighbours later if they have a strap wrench, worst case they're only about a tenner but a new cartridge is over £40 so i's turning out to be an expensive PITA frown

Marigolds were a good tip, sadly still too tight for me.

A new cartridge is £40, how much is a new like for like tap?
They've not been available for a while I don't think, don't want to change it if I can help it, though it may be the easiest option!
