Security Camera Needed
Discussion
Had an attempted break-in at my house about an hour ago. Luckily I woke up as the guy was trying the lock and I shouted through the door and he scarpered.
Police said he was after the car keys and have suggested a camera so that at least I could get a picture of anyone if it happens again.
Can anyone suggest a relatively decent system at a reasonable cost. Thinking of a simple motion activated camera by the front door, nothing overly complex for around £100.
Cheers

Blink camera from Amazon. Two year battery life, motion detects, infrared night vision and allows two way speech.
What put me off Ring is you really need a permanent live to it or else you will be removing the unit every so often to recharge it. You also have to pay for cloud storage (Blink you don't) and need to buy an additional bell/ringer module otherwise it only rings on your phone which according to reviews can be a bit hit and miss!

The blink cameras look like a great option for me.
There is this package
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Blink-Home-Security-Detec...
Will that do or do I need the external XT2 camera?
Reason I ask is that I’m in a bungalow so the cameras cannot be placed very high but I could place a camera in the front window covering the drive?

Be careful with that - you'll probably find that placing a camera behind glass will result in a huge amount of reflected flare when the infra-red activates.geeks said:
Also in a bungalow. I have external CCTV cameras mounted about 7ft or so up and the field of view is fine. The best security in some ways is visible, all well and good having video after the fact but if they see you’re more hassle than you’re worth they’ll move on, in theory, it doesn’t always work that way of course but you catch the meaning I’m sure.
That makes sense. I’m out at the moment so will take a look at the house later and make the decision. The XT2 cameras do look the right fit for me.
