Apologies for yet another CCTV thread, the tech, offers on it and options seem to change weekly and I am finding it a bit of a minefield.

Essentially looking for 3/4 cameras externally and to future proof, looking at 4K cameras only, ruling out 1080p cameras.

Arlo seemed good from quick review but I feel with them and with Ring I’m maybe paying for name?

Hikvision are so widely discussed but you see huge praise and also comments if cheap rubbish and I’m unsure which to believe!

I’ve always thought wired to save me finding a three part ladder and changing batteries regularly etc.

I have electrical support to install if needed. Ideally would like connection to App and ability to add further cameras once I realise I don’t have enough!

Apologies once again for yet another thread but the others I’ve read don’t seem to provide the answers necessarily!

Brilliant in pitch black darkness too

Quality does certainly look good there, be interesting to see if they are the go to recommendation as I expect they may be

This, but with a slight twist. I’ve got a 4 camera Dahua system, I run all 4 at 4K, night time footage is fine so long as my floodlights come on, but as you say pretty blotchy in i/r mode.

Recently changed a faulty camera and got the guys to install a Starlight, with a tiny amount of ambient light the system stays colour all through the evening and through until the morning.

I’ve been so impressed with them that I’m changing 14 outdoor cameras at my yard for the same thing.

There’s two very low wattage lamps outside my front door and a couple of street lamps, but this picture shows how good the footage is at night.

Great call, what model and how many Did you install? I may as well do same!
