Fitted Air conditioning
Discussion
Has anyone recently had air con fitted to a property? We are in a very modern house, and have a TV room. Looking to have a single room, split system fitted. Lends itself for a straightforward fitment, with heat exchanger on the outside wall, and the internal fan unit on the opposite side of that wall at ceiling height. Has anyone got some recent prices, and experience of brands to avoid, or systems to aim for. Any gotchas or pitfalls to think about?

Why does some cretin have to start a fight or wind-up on an aircon thread? I mean... Really?
The fact that you aren't getting any at home, or ineed at all, and wish to vent your limp ducked frustration on a bunch of people discussing how to cool their homes, is desperately sad and of absolutely no interest to me, or anyone else.
Stop it. Grow up.
You’re quite right. I’ll desist. The fact that you aren't getting any at home, or ineed at all, and wish to vent your limp ducked frustration on a bunch of people discussing how to cool their homes, is desperately sad and of absolutely no interest to me, or anyone else.

DIY split unit installed in the attic today. DIY job, so clearly I am going to die for daring to avoid the R32 industry tax.
Next job is to take power to the outside unit to avoid unsightly cables in the room.
Took my attic from an ugly 32C to a civilised 20C in very little time. Better still, leaving the room door open and turning on turbo mode meant a wash of cool air tricking down the stairs and cooling the first floor landing.
Cost of installation was a day off work.

Can an air source heat pumps unit effectively act as the only source of heat for a room? Im installing in a garden office build, which will be well insulated, and considering this as the only source of heat (I have the option of installing electric radiator also).
See the post immediately before. Seems if outside temperature gets to a certain point they will struggle to produce any tangible benefit. I use air con inverter units as my only heat source for bedrooms and office in Spain and it’s fine, but temperatures never really go lower than low positive Celsius. Research on using similar in the U.K. suggests when it’s really needed on properly cold spells it wouldn’t be up to the job.
